When a photographer has an idea about the conditions he or she will be shooting, he or she can prepare and bring the needed equipment.  This will also make the photo sessions run more smoothly as the photographer already has an idea what places in the venue he can use for his background.

A wedding photographer should always make sure his or her equipment is up to date or at least in good working order.

Most professional photographers bring at least two cameras, often one with a wide angle lens and the other equipped with a zoom lens, when they cover a wedding not only as a back-up in case one fails but also to allow him or her to capture moments when they happen without having to bother about changing lenses.
