Every now and then we feel so privileged to do what we do. Photographing pregnant women is one of those things – it is just so special to be a part of the miracle of new life and the incredible feelings of love between the mom and her unborn baby. Often we are lucky enough to photograph mom and dad together and even the father’s who are originally hesitant, end up having a great time and really treasure their portraits with mom and baby-to-be. You can usually feel the love between mom and dad and their unborn baby and it is always an absolute honour to photograph! Yes we are hopeless romantics….. We especially love to photograph older brothers or sisters with mom – we find that toddlers are instinctively drawn to mom’s tummy and the photos of “big brother” or “big sister” with mom and baby-to be are just priceless!!!!
We often get enquiries from mothers-to-be saying that they would love to have maternity portraits done, but that they are either camera-shy or don’t feel particularly beautiful. We always reassure them that all pregnant women are beautiful – how can they not be? They are taking part in the miracle of life and experiencing unconditional love like never before….. We will guide you and direct you through the shoot and will ensure that you are comfortable and enjoy every minute of your shoot. We want you to look back at your fine art pregnancy photographs with fondness and sweet nostalgia….. – having a memorable photoshoot is part of that process. We are also lighting experts so we will control the lights and shadows to create the right mood and help to hide any flaws or trouble spots.
As female photographers, we understand and celebrate the female body and as such our maternity fine art nude photography is tasteful and understated. It’s all about capturing the emotions…. We understand just how much you can love someone you have never even met and we are confident that we will capture the emotion you feel for your little baby growing inside of you. Body language is powerful and our attention to detail ensures that your pregnancy portraits are professional works of art.
The best time to do a maternity portrait photoshoot is between 32 and 38 weeks. We provide simple props like mutton cloth and silky fabrics but prefer the portraits to be simple and natural. We recommend that you wear neutral colours, black always works well, and whatever you are comfortable in. If you are going to do nude maternity portraits, please try not to wear any tight underwear or clothing which will leave marks on your skin. Your hair and make-up should be natural as you want your maternity portraits to reflect your pregnancy in a meaningful and realistic way.
There is a discount if you purchase your maternity portrait session and your newborn portrait session together. We recommend that you do your newborn portrait session within the first 3 weeks if possible as they lose the newborn look very quickly after that. Our studios are warm and cozy to ensure that your little one is comfortable during the session. We also travel to your home if you prefer as it is often difficult for a new mom to get her precious newborn out of the house within the first few weeks. And you don’t want to lose those moments…. Looking back at these treasured images fills you with an immense gratitude for the gift of life and love. Professional Pregnancy Portraits are so special that you want to capture them and immortalize them forever!
We also offer gift vouchers for pregnancy portrait sessions and make wonderful gifts for baby showers. Photography is eternal so a maternity portrait gift voucher is a gift that will last and be treasured for a lifetime!
We look forward to meeting you and baby-to-be…..

I’d never thought of doing pregnancy photos until I came across Louise’s website…..
