School holidays, it’s that time of the year again :-)   Its only a matter of a days before your kids start getting bored out of their wits again. They don’t have to have a schedule with structured activities every day, rather do things to help them develop their own interests while using their imagination.   Keep in mind that most libraries will have holiday activities running for a week or two during the school holidays so check it out.    Kids enjoy the outdoors, so take them to a park to play with other kids and on the swings.  Here are a few affordable ideas for fun activities to keep your children busy this holiday: school holiday activity books colouring books diy tent cardboard box houses

A DIY kiddies picnic:  half of this activity consists of getting everything ready for your picnic.  Get your child involved by letting him/her help you to put together your picninc menu.  They can also assist in getting all the ingredients out of their storage spaces.  Beforehand make a little list for your kids of how to put everything together so that they can tick everything off the list as they go along.  Now you have to stand back and supervise the making of the sandwiches and picnic snacks.  Pack everything into a picnic basket and off you go to a picnic in you garden.school holiday activity and colouring books diy picnic picnic snacks

Get Crafty:  Go over to a stationary shop and get a few essentials like, coloured cardboard, paper, paint, felt pens and try to get your hands on some puzzle and activity books to bring ou when there is nothing to do.  Other activities can bemade into all-day affairs, like making a papier mache doggie, creating a 3D landscape for toy soldiers or even making puppet from old socks with buttons for eyes with a puppetshow to follow.school holiday activities things to do this school holiday kids activities picnic bakery

Make a tent: Recreate the thrill of camping by moving some couches and tables together.  You then take a blanket or two and arrange it over the furniture to make a tent.

Make a house:  Go past a local appliance store (a place which sells big appliances like washing machines or fridges)  after work and ask them for a few big apliance boxes.  Kids can make & break their own little house, you an help them cut a few windows into it and viola!  A whole days entertainment :-)

Baking cookies:  Get yourself a few cookie moulds and then get your kids and teach them to bake.  They always enjoy any hands on projects and they will get to eat it afterwards :-)

Photoshoot:  Bring Grandpa and Grandma along for a fun studioshoot and memories that will last forever!!

Picnics are a great leisure activity. Considering the current economic situation, it is but normal to want to save money. Picnics are a great way to do this. Whats so great about a picnic is that children typically like them just as much as adults. Dont for get to bring your picnic baskets and have fun.
