I loved every moment of photographing Deidre and Phillip’s wedding. It all started with beach themed a save the date magnet which I added along with everything else onto my fridge… They were finally getting married and knowing D this was going to be the wedding of the century! The date was set for 2010/10/10 which made everything just perfect seeing that they have been together for 10 years…
Being a very unique couple they decided to have their wedding at sunrise at the breathtaking Zimbali lodge at 6:00 in the morning (no spelling mistake). So at 3 in the morning we got up and went through to Zimbali to start capturing this special beach wedding day as the bride was getting ready (without power I may mention as we had a power outtage) Deidre was so happy and elated to get married that she didn’t even mind
Needless to say there was no “music” on the beach as planned just a bagpipe player and a close friend accompanying the hymn on her guitar. Yes, the bride entered onto the beach on a beautiful sand-coloured mare… And her father walked her down the aisle… The rest as they say are history! The smiles on the couple’s faces will be etched into my mind forever when the priest announced that they are now Mr and Mr’s Loots! This beach wedding was absolutely perfect and they couldn’t have asked for anything more
We spent precious time capturing everyone near and dear, from the entourage to the family and friends on the beach as well as the beautiful couple sharing a few moments together. This was truly a day filled with love and laughter…. (And if that wasn’t enough the couple and I went to the beach the next morning and they got into the ocean for a trash the dress wedding photography session and memories to last a lifetime…
Deidre and Phil I just know that you will spend many more happy years together… All the best! Ri

As artists we have to constantly remind ourselves that it is a true privilege when someone puts their trust in you and pays you to apture their special wedding in your own unique way…
Have you ever thought what goes into being a wedding photographer? Big responsibility and just a little bit of stress but when you get to the end of the day and you review all the beautiful wedding images which you have captured you know that it will forever be worth it… I often start the day out listening to romantic weekend and keep the couple in my mind, as well as recall certain ideas and landscape scenes from their chosen venue (Oakfield farm in this case) This sets the scene even before you meet your bride. As once you start photographing the preparation process there is no stopping until about 6 hours later when you can sit down for 5 minutes and just get yourself together again. We truly make each and every wedding a personal experience and becom part of your family on this special day.
This was the first wedding I have gone to in my 4 years of photographing these celebrations where the groom’s speech included only one person, his new wife
The way he described how they were made for each other and fitted together perfectly was just so special that it still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it… A match made in heaven! Capturing their special wedding photographs was one of the most natural things to do as they couldn’t keep their eyes of each other along with constant laughter.
After these special events we spend days and weeks going through each and every single photograph enhancing it in just the perfect way so that your wedding day is captured exactly the way you wanted it to be. We often hear the groom saying that after going through the photos he realizes just how big the moment was for him as he didn’t even notice half of the details…
We don’t just capture your wedding day, but we add a little bit of our own soul to make your wedding photos unforgettable!

A couple’s wedding day, is a euphoric, crazy, beautiful day – and no other day would look and feel exactly like that day again. There are suppose to be long, lovable stares into each other’s eyes, giggles from the little flower girls, an excited groom waited for a breathtaking bride, a reception hall decorated with precision and care – and then, there are the photographers hired specifically to capture all of these wonders.
It’s a long day starting from hair and make-up & then dressing – but it builds up to a point where a glowing woman walks up to man in a handsome suit, witnessed by friends and family, and the most important thing – is just that they get to say “I do”. We as photographers chose this profession – or the profession chose US, mostly because of our creative eye, in seeing all of these little details that the couple in their cloud-nine state, don’t see and we spend the whole day looking for them.
All photography as we said, has its own sense of appeal, but a wedding is extraordinarily special, as it deals with all things “nice” in life – a father with pride in his eyes, a mother with tears in hers, a beautiful dress, food “crafted” with precision, gorgeous flowers and decorations – and everyone that just smiles because they can’t help it.
We were fortunate enough to shoot a wedding recently with both Riani & myself there, and we captured it from two different angles – a bonus for the couple, and more to work with for us, and looking at all of those photos afterwards make us proud that we were the ones to create the only thing a couple has left after the wedding – their photo’s and the memories of the day.

Anybody can be a model we believe, and we make it our mission and our job to prove our theory right, every time. With a little self-assurance magic definitely happens, and towards the end of these shoots smiles happen, the ones we have been hoping for. It’s quite a big responsibility on us to get people all relaxed and not be intimidated in front of the camera. Something about being in front of the camera gets some people very anxious, but then all people want good, professional photographs taken to record their children’s growth or their special wedding day or to have a portfolio done as prospect full model – we as photographers find it in ourselves from somewhere to get those natural, lovely smiles that make a picture pop.
To be a model is mostly all about looking good, it isn’t like environmental portraiture, where the actual essence of the photo lies in the character of people’s faces, where things like poverty, hunger, distress and destruction is what makes the photo evoke an emotion with the viewer. With model photography, a certain esthetic beauty should be present which has nothing to do with facial features, weight or age – it’s all about an attitude from within, it should only be tapped by the photographer, hence the reason why it is our passion. As a team, Riani and I have witnessed little miracles happen in front of our eyes, whether it has been a 7-day old baby’s gummy smile that came out of nowhere, or a little boy with big eyes smile after some jokes and giggles, and to have a person pose as model, and we get those beautiful lines and expressions right is a big reward and the very thing that will make them go “Wow”, when they see the end-product.
Model photography can be low-key, high-key, done in studio or in the field, but is always about where the light will fall on the subject so much so, that it’s as flattering as possible, make who they are stand out as much as possible, and have the result be as striking as possible.

A baby is a little blessing in any couple’s lives, and in these times it is a special idea to have photo’s taken of mommy’s belly as it has such a nice shape, and it’s the proof of new life that will grace us with its presence soon. Just like people have different skin colours and different face shapes, every expectant mom has a different shape tummy which we find so interesting. In earlier years maternity photography was unknown or a not really practiced but today, it could almost be seen as an art form, and done with beautiful lighting, it is something to remember this extraordinary time by.
At Louise Diesel Photography, we get to see many pregnant mommies and then baby when they return to have their newborn shoot done by us. Both are an experience unique to its own. With both shoots, we keep the lighting quite low-key, and the background black; it allows for more mood and emphasis on the tummy and it’s shape, or baby and parents, and the little bond that they have amongst themselves.
We can see how even the very new little baby, has features of its mommy or daddy already, see a father with a newborn have a look in his eyes that can’t be explained, see excited parents as mommy holds her round tummy and smiles down at it.
With everything, whether it is a great wedding day, or a birthday occasion, all you have left over are the photos and if done in such a special way such as we do here at Louise Diesel Photography studio, you will treasure it forever and look at it with pride, as we really took great care in photographing it for you tastefully, as flattering as possible, but most of all, want you to remember your time with us in studio, as pleasurable and joyful.

Take a guess what I did this past weekend… ?! I had the absolute privilege of photographing Tracy and David’s wedding at Thaba Ya Batswana
Being a woman and knowing the dynamics of love and relationships just adds to the magic which every wedding has. Let me tell you a little secret, I have been a wedding photographer for more than 3 years now and I still get goosebumps the moment the Wedding march starts playing and the chapel doors swings open to reveal the radiant bride…

The thing which I love the most about wedding photography at Thaba Ya Batswana is that the photo possibilities are just endless. Ranging from beautiful architecture to open fields with long grass…
It’s like heaven to any photographer. One of the client requests was to please get a lot of nice photos of the kids before hand (While their clothing is still clean…
) and they are refreshed. This photos of Calista (3) just melts my heart. She was a little bit shy in the beginning of the wedding day but soon warmed up to the camera and ended up whispering in my ear that she really likes me

When choosing your wedding photographer it is important to find that balance between affordable wedding photography and good quality wedding photography. You are not only paying someone creative and skilled to capture your wedding day, but also for the days and hours spent behind the scene editing and perfecting your photos.
Our photographers
spend time on evolving and making their wedding photography contemporary but unique. Some wedding photographers charge less money as they aren’t confident and very inexperienced so your wedding photos will be good quality. On the other hand a slightly more expensive wedding photographer will have a great wedding portfolio along with years of experience and they will ensure that you get breathtaking wedding photos of your special day.
Ask your preferred affordable wedding photographers to show you their wedding albums and portfolios and then make an informed decision.
