Take a guess what I did this past weekend… ?! I had the absolute privilege of photographing Tracy and David’s wedding at Thaba Ya Batswana   Being a woman and knowing the dynamics of love and relationships just adds to the magic which every wedding has.  Let me tell you a little secret, I have been a wedding photographer for more than 3 years now and I still get goosebumps the moment the Wedding march starts playing and the chapel doors swings open to reveal the radiant bride… 

The thing which I love the most about wedding photography at Thaba Ya Batswana is that the photo possibilities are just endless.  Ranging from beautiful architecture to open fields with long grass…

It’s like heaven to any photographer.  One of the client requests was to please get a lot of nice photos of the kids before hand (While their clothing is still clean… ) and they are refreshed.  This photos of Calista (3) just melts my heart.  She was a little bit shy in the beginning of the wedding day but soon warmed up to the camera and ended up whispering in my ear that she really likes me

When planning your wedding don’t hesitate to ask your photographer to recommend the perfect time to get married so that you will get beautifully soft light for your wedding photos.  Remember these are going to last you a lifetime so make sure you get this right.  And Finally just let go and anjoy the day.

Today I photographed Mrs M who is 2 weeks away from giving birth to her beautiful baby girl   To me photos of pregnant women represent hope, new life and a little bit of magic.  I absolutely adore this photo, the hat was meant to serve as a traditional veil on her wedding day and so it has a truly special connection to her and this shoot.  Would you believe me if I told you that this gorgeous woman used to serve in the army… no…?  WEll believe it, pretty but tough!

The best photography tip I can ever give anyone is to keep experimenting.  Photography is a vast field and you will always be learning something.  Don’t shy away from the projects that make you nervous and your heart flutter, because the day you dont broaden your horizons, is the dya that your spirit will die.  I received this quote about time form someone and I think in essence this describes a little about photographers and the time they put into photographs.

“Why is your time important?  Time is your most preciuos asset.  You can make more money, get more education, get more jobs, but you can never make or get more time.

Why do you think our years on earth are measured as “life-time”?  Because as time is spent so is your very life.

When you give someone or something your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back.  Since your time is your life, don’t you think it’s the greatest gift you can give someone ?”

Shepstone Gardens is a beautiful wedding venue situated in the heart of Johannesburg.  When you drive past it in the street you can never imagine the true beauty which lies inside the stone walls.

This Johannesburg wedding venue also has it’s own unique story.  Ken’s father has a passion for gardening (which you will see once you go and have a look at these heavenly gardens)  So one day Ken proposed to his father why don’t they turn it into a wedding venue?  And voila!

When I went through to go and take a look before the wedding day I remember walking up the stairs and telling Ken how beautiful his venue is.  And he was saying but I haven’t even seen it yet.  I just had the feeling like I was walking into a movie.  You don’t get many places like Shepstone Gardens in South-Africa and that’s what makes this a unique wedding venue.

Sharon & Anton is living proof that you can really find your soul mate over the internet.  Yes, they met in a chatroom and decided to then meet face to face and here they are a few years down the line saying I DO

They are completely smitten…  You can almost feel the energy when you are in their company. WOW!  I love to just watch the way they communicate.  You know that song:” You say it best.., when you say nothing at all…”  It makes me think of them.
