We all want to let loose every now and again, and the best way to do that, is that have one wacky party were everyone dresses up, and pretend to be some crazy character. You can be as extraordinary as you want to be, and it will all add to the fun of the event. Especially with 21^st birthday parties, one can think outside of the box and have a theme associated with it.

We enjoy this family tremendously, as we have done a few functions for them already. Knowing you have professional photographers to captures the evening’s essence, will take a big load off of your shoulders, knowing that we have high-end equipment that will have colours pop, and skin tones appear natural. The Canon 5D Mark II that our studio use, is an amazing piece of equipment and truly makes our vision come alive.

Event Photography

I recently joined a group called the Joburg Photowalkers and it was on one of their outings that I took these oimages showed above.  The whole idea of this group is to find interesting locations and go there within a group of photographers so that you can be safe (these photos were taken in JHB under the M2 bridge – and we were a group of about 20 people)

The photowalk was all about capturing the art of Graffiti showcased all over our beautiful city and we had such fun.  I really enjoyed the way all the photographers helped each other out on compositional ideas, holding something up etc…  Photographers amateurs and professionals alike walked together talking about things which inspire them and what kind of photoshoots they would love to still do (maybe in the city etc)

As you can see it was mostly colours which grabbed my attention, all the yellows and reds…   I have to confess though that I think of all the people attending I think I took the least photos, I was more inspired by the workings of the group and watching others photograph.

In June, we celebrate Youth Day, and as it is all about kids, and what they represent – growth and evolving generations, we decided to have a Youth Day special at Louise Diesel Photography studio, The Real Life Studio. As families are what make us special here, we have marked the family shoots down, and any family package is less 20% for the month of June.

Our diverse spectrum of families that come and visit is makes our jobs excited, it’s never the same kind of people, and everyone has different stories, and different dynamics to their family’s structure. Some have smaller kids which provide endless fun, as they are so spontaneous and just say such darn things. Some have teenagers; some are made up of many uncles and aunties. However they are put together, we enjoy them all, and try our best to get even the toughest client’s smile from within them, come to the front, and we always take great care in giving people amazing products, of which they can be proud of, show of, and which will make them come back for a session at another time in their lives.

A party, get-together or event of any sort, are something that should be enjoyed, or is at its simplest, very involved with a lot of moving parts to keep track of. Therefore the photography of your function shouldn’t be another burden on your already fully stacked plate. At Louise Diesel photography, The Real Life Studio, we have been photographing parties for years, and it’s always one vent where we find it’s the best idea to have professional photographers present who’ll capture the proceedings with professional equipment, making sure skin tones are correct, details get capture and attention is given to your guests, whom you took the effort to invite because they mean something special to you.

Many details go into the planning and designing of a function, sometimes it is theme- or colour based, and the hostess took care of small things to have the evening be a success. We make sure to photograph these in a creative way, so that you can remember your function’s small elements.

It’s a good idea to invest in a good set of photographs of your event. With most parties, it’s something that only comes along once, or is very strategically celebrated, and a party wasn’t going to be held, if it didn’t mean something rather significant to the clients wanting our services to capture it all.

When two artistic people come together, it can be a creative jumble of ideas and a huge amount of fun. Ever since starting my job at Louise Diesel Photography, I have felt it was also another “home” of mine, because we are given a huge amount of creative freedom, which I feel, have been able to help me grow in my art actually. It was able to mould and evolve, and one could actually take the space and time to stand back, see your own work, regard its quality, and better on it.

Louise have done a great job by making our small studio grow by the month, and I have seen the flow of growth ever since I’ve started. We get to move in such wonderful places in spaces, where we can amaze our clients, and ourselves. Through that whole process, not only have I climbed the ladder higher in my work, but were also able to work closely with Riani, Louise’s photographer for over 2 and a half years, and we were able to get together, bounce ideas off each other, and because we understand the technicality of the studio set-up so well, we understand each other’s unfinished sentences, and move on instinct alone at times.

We have a great energy being together, even by having different points of view, or different opinions about things, but we get to be stronger together, like a double-banded rope, and it’s been a great ride, one which I hope gets to be as much of an inspiration, and more -  through Louise’s guidance, as it is now, and as much fun and hard work (and more), as it is now, by working with Riani.

When your children are small, it’s normal to take a lot of photos of them; their whole life gets recorded, not even just at school, but always at home as well, as most people these days own a decent digital camera. And as it goes, kids grow at a rapid speed, and birthdays seem to come around faster than you can keep track.

Birthdays are quite a big thing for a little kiddie, as it’s their day to be the ultimate centre of attention, as the cake, and all the presents, and all the guests and friends, and decorations, are just for them. Kids are very honest, in all their doings, and the little expressions you get from something as special as a birthday party, when magical things little blowing out candles, receiving lots of presents, and having enormous fun with their friends happening, is priceless.
