Our babies are our precious treasures and we treat all our clients’ babies, as if they are our own children, being sensitive to how little they still are, and how they have certain needs. To photograph babies is not the easiest task, because babies and smaller children rule the world – if they want something done now, chaos breaks out of they don’t get it. Little newborn babies are still used to being very close to mommy and daddy, and being by themselves can be quite intimidating, so we make sure to create a soothing environment, as to not scare them and have their first shoot be a negative experience.

Our Maternity- and Newborn combination package is a great value-for-your-money package, making sure you get those moments of your pregnancy when your tummy is still round and full, showing the miracle of an actual baby living inside of you, and then the shoot with baby is so special, because they seem to grow so fast, that that amazing newborn look with wrinkly skin, and bend-in little knees, start to disappear faster that you would like it to.

Riani has quite the magical touch with these little human beings, she seems to have a soothing touch, and some skills to make sure baby does not freak out in the shoot. Too bright lights, or being too far and too long away from mommy, could unsettle them, and we make sure the necessary is done to make the experience as positive as possible, for both newborn and its very proud parents.

We always love to find out from our clients when they come for their maternity shoots, how exactly the moment played out when they told their husbands they are now pregnant, and we love to hear the different stories. Many people were together, many phoned their husband with the exciting news – and we always enjoy the proud father’s tale of how this new ear, is so special for them, and how they can’t wait for little baby to arrive.

We can’t stress enough how quickly time flies, we have all experienced it when a new year starts, suddenly Easter comes along, winter feels like it suddenly dawned on all of us overnight, and then the end of the year looms again. Therefore we encourage all future parents, or mommies and daddies thinking about having a shoot done with mommy’s pregnant tummy, and then later when little one has arrived, to go ahead and make that booking, it isn’t something you’ll regret.

It’s a time where you literally see your life changed in instants, and know that things will never be the same for your family ever again. Pregnancy and newborn photoshoots

Our Maternity/Newborn packages offer you something very special in that treasured time when you are still pregnant, and when baby have been born, to capture those moments that pass al too soon. Just like little puppies, who are very cute and cuddly when small, but get to grow way to fast into energetic dogs, even more so do babies grow, and suddenly they get to learn these significant skills, such as smiling, using their little arms to make all sorts of gestures and that flap wildly when they get excited. And all sorts of sounds are learnt – and then they actually start communicating with you.

Having a baby, is a miracle, all things are forgotten and forgiven very fast, and you get to focus on this small person but already with a significant role to play, and it such a huge part of your life, instantaneously. Making sure that all of this does not go unseen and forgotten to quickly because of time that jut seems to fly past, we find it necessary to have a shoot to remember all of your special moments by.

Being a Mommy for the first time, or even having to get the privilege of more than once, makes a woman realize how another little human being’s life is in their own hands now, and before birth, literally within themselves. That is a proud moment, and we would encourage all parents, either first-time, or having had been through it before, to celebrate this new life by enjoying a shoot at our LDP studio, and being amazed at the results.

Pregnancy photographer

Pregnancy is such a special time in any woman’s life.  Some of us will be blessed with one or more pregnancies and each one is different with a unique individual softly being woven together close to your heart.

In our pregnancy photoshoots we portray you as a Goddess (don’t  laugh, cos it’s true    )  We make use of low-key lighting (as seen in the pics above) to accentuate all and everything which is beautiful – the love you and your hubby share, the joy and laughter,, placement of your hands,  your beautiful tummy (and if you have stretch marks I have a “magic wand which you will just adore”, so don’t even think to stress about that ) and simply the beautiful shape of your pregnancy body.  Let’s face it, there is something very magical about the shape and silhouette of a pregnant woman.

And of course we also use this low key lighting to “hide” everything you are not too fond of, so it’s a win-win scenario   You are also more than welcome to bring along every and any prop you like and we will incorporate this into your shoot, be it blocks spelling baby’s name or pearls you got from your grandmother.

Pregnancy photoshoots

We love babies in our studio. I always say, babies bring a sense of honesty to this world, as they can’t fake anything, and won’t be stopped if they want to cry right NOW. But somewhere, that baby had to come from a very pregnant mommy, with a very round tummy. Maternity shoots are actually very technically inclined, as we use the light a lot, to accentuate shape and form, and that gorgeous belly, is quite a distinctive shape.

In photography, one unfortunately loses a dimension, and through some means or another, that dimension has to be gained back again to the viewer. In food photography for example, it’s quite challenging, as the very thing photographed is made to be enjoyed through the taste and smell of it, and those things taken for granted, are taken away, through photography, with an image reduced to a print on a medium as thin as paper. Using light to accentuate the shape of things, so that it doesn’t look flat and lifeless, is the essence of photography. With maternity photography, the shape is quite evident, and we use that to the ultimate, with side-lighting which creates a gradient of the roundness.

Maternity shoots are quite arty, and has a different element to it, than family photos, as it’s quite personal and intimate. That little baby is brought back a while later for their own special shoot, and then we complete the circle, with mommy’s tummy having had a chance, and baby being brought into this world later on.

Pregnancy Photoshoot

A baby is a little blessing in any couple’s lives, and in these times it is a special idea to have photo’s taken of mommy’s belly as it has such a nice shape, and it’s the proof of new life that will grace us with its presence soon. Just like people have different skin colours and different face shapes, every expectant mom has a different shape tummy which we find so interesting. In earlier years maternity photography was unknown or a not really practiced but today, it could almost be seen as an art form, and done with beautiful lighting, it is something to remember this extraordinary time by.

At Louise Diesel Photography, we get to see many pregnant mommies and then baby when they return to have their newborn shoot done by us. Both are an experience unique to its own. With both shoots, we keep the lighting quite low-key, and the background black; it allows for more mood and emphasis on the tummy and it’s shape, or baby and parents, and the little bond that they have amongst themselves.

We can see how even the very new little baby, has features of its mommy or daddy already, see a father with a newborn have a look in his eyes that can’t be explained, see excited parents as mommy holds her round tummy and smiles down at it.

With everything, whether it is a great wedding day, or a birthday occasion, all you have left over are the photos and if done in such a special way such as we do here at Louise Diesel Photography studio, you will treasure it forever and look at it with pride, as we really took great care in photographing it for you tastefully, as flattering as possible, but most of all, want you to remember your time with us in studio, as pleasurable and joyful.

Pregnancy and newborn photographer

We quite often find ourselves taking the most beautiful photos of pregnant women.  And as a pregnancy photographer in Johannesburg I can most definitely tell you that there is a lot of people who planned to have their babies born in 2010, the year the Soccer World Cup was played in South-Africa.  We have seen a big increase in the numbers of pregnant women being photographed just in the last six months.

I can’t quite put into words how pretty pregnant women are to us as photographers.  There is just something truly special to carrying a new life within your womb.  Instead of using a lot of props in pregnancy photos we choose to concentrate on the emotion on mom-to-be’s face and the placement of her hands in “holding” her unborn baby.

“J”s little baby is going to be called Lazaro Levi, don’t you just think that is one of the coolest names ever?!  I absolutely love it!  It certainly creates big expectations (but he probably already weighs in at 3kg’s and mom is only 36 weeks pregnant) so no problem there

Little man I absolutely cannot wait to meet you and spend another hour of fun in the studio with your mother!
