The job that we have involves so many wonderful things, and it’s always exciting, as things always happen, progresses, and we get to meet new clients all the time. We find all of our clients so unique and interested, as we see how about everyone wants their shoot a certain way, or have different things in mind, or the family itself is differently put together. Some people are much les inhibited and laugh and joke with each, wrestling and teasing each other endlessly. Others find themselves a bit more only a while into the shoot, and relax as they see how we interact with them, their children, and pose and direct them in such ways, to only get the best out of their family, which could consists out of absolutely anybody, young, small etc.

Service is something we constantly discuss, to have systems and certain rules in place, to always make the experience for everyone as enjoyable as possible, and to have you realize that our studio always strives for the best, and is proud to provide you with an excellent product.

Fun family photoshoots

All families are compiled differently, some have two fathers, some eight kids, some ten grandchildren, some a single mother, and that is what makes your family unique in its own right. We adore families who come and visit us, because each and every shoot, we try and bring a fun element in. No one wants to look back at photos and remember a stiff, too posed kind-of time they had with us. Kids are in anyway much more comfortable with their parents tickling them, and playing with them, that what they would be with some strange lady doing it, and those giggles are what we’re looking for.

Kids will always be kids, and when they are still small, no amount of force will get them to smile if they are really not into it. We have the biggest success rate with smaller children, when their photos are taken first, and when we try and do all combinations that have them in it, over and done with, without rushing it, just knowing that they only give a small amount of time before they are spend and very stimulated. Our studio is based on the principle that your shoot should be good, positive experience, for everyone involved, from Granny, to the very littlest baby, and we try our best to not to make children scared of the experience.

It’s always a pleasure to work with kids, because they are so honest and only themselves, and those amazing faces breaking into (sometimes toothless) smiles, are priceless.

Fun and creative family photoshoots

Photographing male models in the studio is ultimately a more challenging as what it is to photograph women. Women are very well-known for their curves and their sensuality, and they usually have long hair and a certain air around them, that men just don’t have, and photographing women, is pure magic. The human body, and even more so the curves of a women have been the muse of many an artist through-out millennia and it didn’t matter if the women were small- or bigger built. Guys have different elements to them, and are differently built, having more of a block-built, and making that work in front of the camera, is a very interesting challenge. Modeling photography is a discipline of photography I enjoy tremendously, and making people appear glamorous and perfectly chiseled using good lighting and interesting poses, is something I admire, and try and do with great skill.

This particular model was such a pleasure to photograph, as he had previously done some advertising work, and knew how to use the light and his own frame very well.

Male modeling portfolio

Working with any type of model, I find such a pleasure, as a modeling shoot, is something different to the fun and energetic family shoots we have going on here. It’s a bit more posed, and instead of getting the very cute and natural expressions and smiles children has to give, it’s all about getting the very best side of the subject, and making them look fabulous.

We play a lot with light in out modeling shoots, and if it works in the photo, most things go. If you know the rules, you are more than allowed to break them, and we have found that a modeling shoot, gives the photographer a huge amount of freedom, because you can get creative, and create shadows where you might want them, or put light into certain places to accentuate that feature.

There are many opportunities for all forms of modeling, whether it be in advertisements, or photographically, or by becoming a catwalk model, and it all starts with a good portfolio, photos that show a bit of who you are, and your skill of posing and taking guidance from the photographer. Start with a great portfolio with our studio, we shall give you a great product to be proud of.

Artistic modeling photography

There is this special time in a girl’s life when she isn’t fully a teenager yet, but no more a small girl, and in that gap, is when they are at their sweetest.  We have had quite a few shoots with girls this age, and always find it a pleasure working with them. They provide for some precious moments, and it’s at this age where you want to keep them right where they are, and not have them grow up too fast.

When they’re small it’s easy to whip out gifts for them, as a toy would suffice, but when they get a bit older, they want more exciting ways to celebrate their birthdays, and a shoot for the birthday girl, and her friends, is the ideal way to capture the stage they’re at.

We have done quite a few shoots such as these, and we provide a very professional service, making sure, every girl is photographed, the birthday girl, is treated especially special, and that we get fun, spontaneous group photos that will make you remember the celebrated birthday with fondness. If not sure what to do with a tween’s birthday, let them have their own fun shoot, with a group of friends, we’ll e sure to provide you with an outstanding product.

Teenage birthday party photo session

A couple shoot is one of the most funnest (for lack of a better word), shoots we get to do in the studio. We get to work with two people who already are crazy about each other, so the chemistry isn’t hard to whip up, and they usually know each other pretty well, o they have this interesting way, of making each other smile and giggle.

I personally, LOVE a couple shoot, it makes for great photos. With all our clients we ask them to be as creative as they can, and to bring along anything they feel are symbolic, or anything they want to in-corporate in the shoot, or just any items and objects they like. One lovely benefit of staying in such a beautiful country such as South Africa is the immense diversity of people we live with. It’s such a pleasure to see people stay true to who they are, and bring traditional wear or attire; we welcome such spontaneity and use what you brought as best we can. We try and give each client a unique set of photos, and urge everyone to bring whatever you might feel comfortable in, whether it’s biker-chaps and jackets, or musical instruments. We shall be sure to use it creatively, and still have loads of fun in your shoot.

Fun couples photos

Having professional photos taken is a memory you will treasure.  We have had so many moms in who tell me that right after they actually miss their tummy… (believe it or not) and soon after a few months you start forgetting how it felt.  Put your trust in us to make you look your absolute best with our guiding poses and fantastic lighting

Some info for your pregnancy photoshoot: 

When is the best time to have photos taken of your pregnancy?  We always recommend having your photoshoot when you are between 33 – 36 weeks pregnant, your tummy is already round and full but you are note at the point of being uncomfortable.

Is dad allowed to come along and what should we wear?  Of course dad can come and share in this special memento, we’d love to have him there.  They always bring a beautiful element of masculinity into these special photos.  Dark clothing works best, because we shoot on a black background and this will cause your clothing to “half-merge” with tha background placing the focus on your tummy, the bond and excitement you and your partner share and the placement of your hands.

Can we bring some props along?  Most definitely, it really adds that something extra as these are items you will see time and again in your house and recollect your pregnancy and the shoot, and if it’s something sentimental or that granny knitted, we will add it into your photos with pleasure.
