A wedding should most of all, actually only be enjoyed. It can be quite a stressful day, but the most important thing of all, is that you say “I do” at the end of it all. Once that has happened, it’s a special sealed moment, and you can actually relax then, and just enjoy the rest of the day, the start of your life together.

On a wedding day, many things are happening at once, and you have all your loved ones there to celebrate it with you, so many things just fly past you and in the midst of it all, you hope it gets recognized by anyone, as you poured your heart into the planning of it all. We as the photographers, make sure to capture every last thing. Both Riani and I, are experienced wedding photographers, and Louise, being an avid photographer herself with a big interest in photography, saw our capability when she hired us both. We treat every single wedding as a personal reflection on us and of who we are, and it’s extremely important to us to get it right – both technically, and emotionally.

You want to remember it all, in a creative way after all, not just with some photographs only being a record of what happened. It’s when magic gets in the way, that something special happens, and we make it our responsibility, and priority, to photograph it professionally, with good equipment, and to the best of our abilities.

Wedding Photography

A party, get-together or event of any sort, are something that should be enjoyed, or is at its simplest, very involved with a lot of moving parts to keep track of. Therefore the photography of your function shouldn’t be another burden on your already fully stacked plate. At Louise Diesel photography, The Real Life Studio, we have been photographing parties for years, and it’s always one vent where we find it’s the best idea to have professional photographers present who’ll capture the proceedings with professional equipment, making sure skin tones are correct, details get capture and attention is given to your guests, whom you took the effort to invite because they mean something special to you.

Many details go into the planning and designing of a function, sometimes it is theme- or colour based, and the hostess took care of small things to have the evening be a success. We make sure to photograph these in a creative way, so that you can remember your function’s small elements.

It’s a good idea to invest in a good set of photographs of your event. With most parties, it’s something that only comes along once, or is very strategically celebrated, and a party wasn’t going to be held, if it didn’t mean something rather significant to the clients wanting our services to capture it all.

Easter in the southern hemisphere is when the trees start turning all sorts of wonderful colours because autumn is upon us, and the winter soon thereafter, which only means lovely fireplaces, hot chocolate and snuggly blankets.  Our Easter special is for all our clients, because even though the cold is creeping up on us, we’re not going anywhere and will still continue to do what we do.

It involves normal photo shoots like any other; the only great difference is the discount of 20% off of any shoot booked for the month of April. All care and effort would be taken to still make it a great, professional experience for all our clients, and you would still get your beautifully edited photographs and high-res cd from us, something few studios offer.

Our studio can be heated up, or cooled down as the season, or little babies for that matter, requires it, so no need to worry when bring little kiddies our to us, that you will freeze in the studio, it will be cozy and warm, so we’ll get to see everyone in April!!

Lifestyle family photography

When you have teens, you’ll know, how for what seems like years dragging on, you might just have gone deaf, especially when it come to a few tween-girls having fun when they get together. Having about 15-20 of those, in our studio, makes for a very livery, energized bunch, and those photographs always turn out lovely, as their youth and vibrancy shine through.

Getting them all organized, is quite tricky, but still, posing them almost comes naturally for these girls, as they just have this young way, of giggling their way through the shoot, and their still young enough to enjoy the shoot fully, and have their own personality shine through some.

It’s a great idea to have such a shoot, for young tweens and their girlfriends, especially for a birthday party, or maybe even as an end-of-year closing party, when a new grade of school awaits them all. It’s so much fun shooting with these girls, they make us feel very young still, and we’re all in stitches pretty soon. Ideas for Teenage Birthday parties

The moment colour could be caught on film, a whole new era of photography started, and today, with digital being to main way of printing, editing & photographing, it’s hard to get colours matching over all spectrums, as everyone’s printers, computers & camera’s differs, having different LCD outputs.

Maybe because of all of technology’s advancement, I love going back to keeping it basic, and black & white photography, will always be a big love of mind. It’s something I admire, and very much enjoy, in other artists’ work, and my own. To understand black & white photography, one has to understand colour first, knowing what effect different colours and their intensities will have on either your black & white film, or on your digital camera. With black & white photography, comes an appeal, which is hard to explain or to understand, and it’s mostly in the degree of contrast a photo has. When flat, with not as much degrees of variation between the highlights and the shadows, it makes for an unattractive photograph.

Understanding contrast was a whole module on its own when I studied, and it takes a while to understand and to get right, as mostly light controls it. But when you get it spot on, it will make for photographs that people will do a double take on.

Black & White Photography

It doesn’t matter who you are, we truly believe you can be a model, and that you would make for great photographs. Once people get older, they would probably become more inhibited and self-conscious, and it’s lovely to be who we are and throw that statement out of the window. We have seen it so many times, that any person who wants to be a model, just need to show up, we’ll do the rest.

Being older doesn’t make you less beautiful at all, and we’ll still make sure to use the best possible lighting on you and for your shoot, to compliment who you are. It’s lovely to see some women crawl out of their shell towards the end of these shoots, but even more so when they see the photographs, and how we were able to wow them, with a strategic, lovely way of photographing.

From now one, there are no more excuses, and we’d like to encourage any women, or man brave enough to face us professional young women at Louise Diesel Photography studio, to have model shoot done, if not for someone special in your life, then just for yourself, to see how you are still awesome.

Working for a studio, means getting to work with studio lighting, and equipment, and we love it that way. It’s pretty controlled, and we know how we can use that to get the best out of any person’s complexion, and making them look their best. We had the wonderful chance, to climb out of our comfort zone some, and were invited to go and photograph the fire drills that we’re to be held at Ekhuruleni Fire Department, of the new recruits.

It was explained to us, that the fire has a mind of its own, and at varies so much, that at one moment, the fire’s intensity, would make it very bright, and could blow out of your screen if not controlled, and the next, it could be very dark and contrasty.

We enjoyed it so much, and what a thrill. Their drills are very constructed, and we learned so much about how they go about to drown a fire. It was an evening to remember, and it made for great photographs. ISO, is kept quite low, and when the fire is going strong, quite high shutter speeds can be obtained, so if you have a steady hand, you have a lesser chance of blur. We appreciated them accommodating us so much, and we’d like to thank the firemen- and recruits of Ekhuruleni Fire Department, for their patience and giving us that chance.
