There are very specific reason why you chose your colour-scheme for your wedding, or to choose things that go with a certain theme, either because it is exactly how you wanted it, or it represents your individual style – whatever the reason may be, these are the small little things that add to the aesthetic and atmosphere of your wedding, and could also be the factors that make it very unique, as someone else might decide to go with something completely different.

We as photographers are very set and keen on detail – I find it my blessing as well as my curse, because I’m extremely pedantic, and what to make sure my clients feel we took care of their needs with our style, and when we shoot weddings, the little details do not get looked over. We always arrive a little bit earlier, see where the bride is getting dressed, where the reception is set-up, and where every phase of the wedding is to happen. Usually there is time then to already start shooting, and we take care to photograph things such as the cake’s detail, and the décor on the tables, before guests have to sit down, knowing we captured that. Your euphoric state might make for you missing some if these little things and just have eyes for the person you’re getting married too. It’s completely understandable, and that is why – we were hired.

Photography Tips On Holiday

When you have the opportunity to travel, you must take that chance with all of you. Traveling expands your horizons and makes you aware of the many different ways of life on this planet.

In some places they live very technologically advanced, and everything is operated almost mechanically. In others, they are still doing things as they have done it for the past 500 years, and are perfectly happy with it that way.

You could probably spend your whole life traveling to all the different places Earth has to offer, and never get bored of it, and it will never stop to amaze you.

Thailand was an adventure Louise and Ryan undertook recently, and as always, she packed the camera first. Louise loves capturing the wonders of places, and our cameras has been honored enough to even have been up Machu Picchu.

Louise  has such a keen eye for smart, unique little things, and ends up making a very special storybook of all of her images, getting her whole trip in such a special form to keep. Time spent travelling is never wasted, and always teaches you something, in different ways, shapes and forms. Make the most of everything, and enjoy some time away when you have the chance.

Using Light and Lines In Boudoir Photography

Photographers think about light in much the same way as little kids think about Christmas.

When we see the light getting rich and deep outside, when it’s the time of day for the sun to almost disappear, we just start daydreaming about all of the amazing images we could capture in all of that magic light. We’re so very fortunate to not have to pay for natural light, because something so pure is priceless, and you just have to know your way around to understand what it can offer you.

In the studio we get to manipulate light to a degree, because we shift and move the light stand wherever we need it to be. Every different position provides something different, and will have a different effect on the subject’s shape.  The human shape, and in particularly the female body, is so distinctive in its curves and round lines that it’s very easy to understand why artists can’t get enough of it, ever.

I always love highlighting the amazing bits and parts, and I recently told this lovely lady she can be very proud of herself because she showed her inner self, and her inner beauty come through in her boudoir shoot, making for a beautiful, striking effect.

Here are a couple of good examples of using light and lines to emphasize the models inner beauty taken during a recent boudoir photography shoot at our studio in Johannesburg.

Modelling Portfolio Photography

Contrast is something I didn’t understand, until very late into my studies. I have to say it is quite an art,  but it was only when I mastered the intricacies of using contrast and form, that the really magical things started happening.

modelling portfolio photography
Contrast is easily misunderstood, and if you get it wrong, your audience will mostly not get what you were trying to do. We were taught that you want your viewers to either like, or dislike your images, because then you evoke emotions, a very powerful aspect of art.

But you wouldn’t want them to say that they don’t get it, because confusion means you missed the plot a bit, and even though it creates good debate, it might not be what you were going for. You wanted them to feel some passion for your work, and contrast is one of the most forceful ways of getting your viewers to feel strongly about your work.

Modelling Portfolios Photographs Must Evoke A Reaction, Stir The Emotions Of The Viewer!

So whether they like it or not, you win in both cases, because you stirred something inside.

The photographers, who put their life on the line and shoot war-photography, or capture scenes of destruction and poverty, make their viewers cringe a bit when they get to view the images, but many of these images are so haunting and powerful, and stay with you for some time. The photographer’s mission has thus then accomplished.

So when something such as contrast is understood, you get to know how you can make a photograph pop, and steer your viewers into the thought patterns of your mind, and what you were trying to achieve.

Using Photography To Create An Impact

modelling photos that create an impact

In modeling photography, we get to use light and the human shape, for amazing images, and because there are no rules, I push and create, and ultimately, amaze myself.

Girls have that wonderful way of literally blossoming into who they are to become one day. When they’re young and these little pig-tailed beauties, they are mostly just cute and adorable, when they get a bit older, they have this wonderful in-between stage, where they so badly want to be grown-up, but still have no restraint when going to jump in the swimming pool, like the kids they still are. They love posing, and actually make for great models, because they have a youthful energy and spunk within them, and when I photograph it, I truly enjoy the craziness.

These days, they get to grow up in an era, where many things are technology fast-forwarded and advanced, and to still try and have them keep onto that everything that still keeps them young, is futile, the world makes time go by extremely fast. Obviously as photographers we understand the significance of photographs and how they are meant to last forever. We not do a job, or provide a service, we form a bond with you, and join in the fun you get to have on your special day, we create memories with you, and we provide you with a product that will make you proud every time you get to look at it, and think bad on that mad day with us and your special shoot.

Booking a teenage photoshoot for your girl and her friends, is an amazing idea, the experience of it will stick with you for many years to come still.

I always strive to give all clients who require modeling/or portfolio photos of themselves done, the very best of my ability, and I’m always proud to hand them a high-quality product, so that they can look at it, and hardly fathom that they had been able to bring that magical ability we all have to captivate out from within.

I always take it on as my responsibility, to make sure they show some of their personalities and surprise even themselves with the results we get to achieve in the studio. Many of the people, who require about modeling or portfolio shoots, aren’t professionally trained models – they don’t per inherently know how to pose or use the lines of their body to create images that shows of their appeal. That is why we as photographers guide and assist them, knowing what they light does, where the shadows will fall, and what needs to be accentuated.

A modeling shoot, is a tremendous amount of fun, and anyone who are interested would enjoy it so much, because it’s all about feeling even the more amazing as we go along, and when we get to show our clients what we do on the back of the camera, they are amazed, because standing on the other side, makes a huge difference. Trusting us with what we do, is a privilege we never take for granted and always aim to give great modeling shots, done professionally, showing you of in the most beautiful way possible.

year-end function photography

Events are an ongoing thing through-out the year, celebrations for all different types of reasons. Many companies do year-end functions because it’s a way to honour their staff, and to award the people who contributed to positive production. Many companies have such a winning formula, they just seem to grow and beat any economic blues, and we get to share in their growth and success, when we’re asked to photograph their prestigious event.

Our studio has been doing events for quite some years, having had dealt with all sorts of situations – from companies wanting something fun such a photo booth set-up done, or having a designated space where people have their group- or couple photo taken with their colleagues or partners, and we make sure our set-up meets your requirements, we even make use of professional studio lighting if we know we’ll be working with low-lighting conditions, and we always shoot with high-end professional camera’s, as to not jeopardize on your quality, and to keep the studio’s reputation high. Every event is unique in its own sense, and we adapt to the situation so that we know you as company, or event-organizer, and us photographers are on the same page, and know exactly how the event’s rundown will happen.

We mingle with guests, make sure to get some smiles, and also photograph things such as décor and detail, as these are the things that add aesthetic to your event’s atmosphere. LDP will offer you great service, and high-quality products, and will make the memory of your event a pleasant one.
