I have to share this lovely young lady’s Matric Farewell photos with you. We have had the privilege to photograph quite a few of these recently, we find it becomes more of a need for parents and the young couples to have professional photos done of their kids’ special evening, as it symbolizes the end of their school career.

I have had a shoot with her Mother before, and they are such great people, that when her lovely daughter’s big night arrived they wanted our studio to take some beautiful photos of her. When you have a lovely garden at home, it makes for great photographs that we can use, to add some ambience and atmosphere to the images.

She had on an amazing deep-green dress, and just sparkled of excitement. The photos are always a joy to edit, as it is all about making a beautiful girl, look even more amazing. Because the matric dance is an evening function, the photos are usually taken round about just before the couple has to leave, which makes for that lovely time of day when the colours in the sky are rich and warm, and the sun is almost about to set.

I truly enjoyed this shoot tremendously, as I know our lovely clients will too.

Matric Farewell Photography

I will always remember my Matric Farewell, with such fond memories. Next year will be my ten-year anniversary out of school, and now being in the industry that I’m in, I get to live vicariously though all of the young people having their matric dance photos with us.

We can see the effort that went into their dresses, and the guys’ attire, and proud parents who come with and see how their kids have grown up to become young people, about to finish off their school career. After having had gone through so much trouble to look their absolute best, we feel it so important to have amazing pictures taken, to capture the promise of bright futures, and the nostalgia of so many years of school, about to be done with.

I enjoy Matric Farewell photos tremendously, as you already have a ‘model’, dressed in their best, with glistening eyes, and you need little encouragement to get them to smile, and pose.

Matric Dance Pictures

It’s matric farewell time and let me tell you it has turned into quite an affair…

Nothing gets overlooked, exotic nail designs,  hair styles worthy of weddings and matric dance dresses designed by Simon Rademan, Nina Couture and the likes! Cheese and wine functions at home for the whole family and close friends to congratulate and share in this big day and don’t forget the flashy cars like Mercedes SLS to take you to this dream evening.

I had the privilege of sharing this special day with the Moodley family and they made me feel SO at home J  I was immediately given something cold to sip on and samoosas to eat (homemade and delicious)

We made use of their beautiful foyer (with white chairs to show off the beautiful elegance of her dress) to capture some detail shots of her beautiful dress and hairstyle.  As soon as the  sun had dropped a little lower we used the opportunity to do some photos outside at the water feature and some with the car of course.

Pro matric dance photos

I can vividly remember my sister’s matric farewell like it was just yesterday (even through it was quite a few years ago)  Reason being all the planning, decisions and hours of dressmaking which went into it…  Naturally I was going to take photos before this wonderful occassion as I am a photographer after all   So no pressure as this just HAS to be the most wonderful photos ever.

So I decided to go all out, I “borrowed” a generator from a builder I know and used this to power two Excella 300′s in a veld(yes you heard right) for this special photo session.  I think every second car that drove by hooted, waved and whistled… Naturally the whole family had to be involved so we also had approximitely 5 cars parked all around this elaborate photographic set-up. 

The dress was a beautiful bright red (not fire engine, more like a cherry red just before it darkens to purple) which was showed off perfectly by the green of the lush grass.  The photos turned out to be the most amazing mementoes ever and my sister still loves them so that they are the background on her celphone and laptop  

This goes to show you, that having professional matric farewell photos taken at your matric dance is the best way of capturing and preserving these wonderful memories!

There are a few pivotal moments in our lives that we would like capturing as best as possible. One of them is definitely a matric dance, as it is one of those events where a lot of planning goes into, it is the matric pupil’s last exit out of school, and it surely has to be done in style. Being quite young photographers still, we understand this completely, and having the love for taking photos, makes that we will handle your event photography, as professionally as possible. We obviously want to give you something you and your partner, and ultimately the parents of both parties, who also were part of the process in a big way, can be proud off.

Matric Farewell Pictures

This is the time of the year when every school hosts their Matric Farewell.  Glitz and glamour are just a few of the words which comes to mind…  Every girl attending this prestigious event has been dress-hunting since January.  Your matric dance is really the one time you get to “strut your stuff” in front of your peers   So it’s kind of a big deal…

We will talke professional matric dance photos for you on this special day, making sure to capture every small lttle details which you have put hours into putting together.  From the little flower pinned to your dress right down to your gorgeous shoes.  These photographs will be the best investment you make.  After your matric dance is over, that’s all you have after all the planning and excitement.

This lovely couple has been together for two and a half years and they just love the idea of attending this dance together.  Apparently “T” isn’t really a “girly-girl” so all of her friends and peers might just fall flat on their backs when these two arrive at the venue, Carnival City, and I am sure it will be well worht it going way out with a perfectly unique dress like this.

Professional matric dance photos

Friday afternoon was spent in glitz and glamour taking photos of Aisha’s matric farewell dress, gorgeous shoes and awesome limo…  I was enjoying myself so much and had time to take a silhouette photo (which is actually really easy to do)  Here is my top photography tip for the day.

When taking a silhouette photo keep in mind that you are losing alot of detail so your silhouetted shaped has to be recognisable.  You will see in my shot that I specifically asked Aisha to turn her face to the side so that we would have a beautiful profile showing.  Then you need to have light cming from behind your subject (windows in north facing houses are ideal for this.

You have to then set your exposure for the background behind your subject (which is lit much more brightly than your subject) and this will in “underexpose” your subject , in technical terms, and create a silhouette.  Now you try…
