I have known M for years now, and we decided that it would be fun to do a boudoir photoshoot for her man.  And so one fateful day our schedules had open slots at the same time and we had tons of fun in the studio.  M has is a professional model (and good friend) and I enjoyed shooting with her in the studio.  She was very open-minded to the different poses I had to suggest as well as coming up with some creative ideas of her own   Here is a testimonial which M wrote after her afternoon of sexiness:

Experimenting with photoshop textures When I first started working with photoshop I couldn’t understand how people can make beautiful works of art with all the different effects and tools. But now that I have been in the industry for years I understand that you have to work in different layers

(and play around with the opacity of every layer) I went in search of photoshop textures on the web this morning and got textures so beautiful they made my heart race  So I took my time playing around with different textures on different photos and these are the cool effects that I got out of it. As you can see there is a million variations that you can use. Anything from just changing the background to altering the whole look and feel of the image. The choice is yours!

In today’s blog I thought I’d share some tips on taking great wedding photos.  So here are 9 great tips on taking wedding photos. My first  tip on taking better wedding photos – is to make sure that your memory cards have been cleared before hand, and that you have more than enough batteries which are all fully charged. (PS – and that you have a clear understanding of how your equipment works)

Second great tip on taking stunning wedding photos – Always make sure that you focus  on the bride’s face no matter what happens… (and take your exposure readings from her face)

The third tip on taking good wedding photos – be ready to capture all those moments in between your formal posing and moving around.  You are allowed to enjoy the day and talk to people but be ready to capture anything.|

Fourth tip on taking wedding photos – Make sure that you take a lot of photos on the actual day and review them later(you can still check if everyone’s eyes are open) but there just isn’t  time to study each and every photograph.

Fifth tip on being a good wedding photographer – Be helpful and considerate at all times (you have been behind the scenes at more wedding than the bride and you normally know what works)  This will help to relax the bride and give you the opportunity to capture better photos.

Sixth tip to taking better wedding photographs – Try shooting from different angles, climb onto a chair to capture the wedding guests congratulating the happy couple, and lie on your tummy when taking a shot of the rings with the couple in the background… It is things like these that will set your style apart from other photographers.

My Seventh tip on taking beautiful wedding photographs – is to keep a look out for opportunities to create “arty” photos like this silhouette shot.  Looks like something straight from a Disney fairytale.

The eighth tip to taking better wedding photos – Take charge (and not in a negative way), remember that you have been hired to perform a service and that you need to produce stunning images with the help of natural light (which fades quickly after the sun has set)

Finally the last tip to taking better wedding photos – Learn to connect with your clients in such a way that they are comfortable enough to trust you, this will give you the creative freedom, you need to create amazing wedding photos.

Have you heard the saying that somedays you are the bird and somedays you are the statue?  Well this morning I was having one of those statue days…  This weekend was just filled with some family drama and I was feeling especially low.  I got to the office this morning and had to do a really challenging and creative photo for a really big corporate client which turned out to be a big success!  (The photo is now my desktop background by the way) Afterwards I felt so much better, and that is when I realized how important it is to be grateful for every single blessing.  As soon as I was grateful that I am a photographer and following my true passion I felt content and happy   Every time I look at the photo I can’t help but smile.  So I challenge you today to apply this principle in your life and see if it has the same gratifying effect?

We started this year off with a bang!!!  Commercial and corporate photoshoots, add to that a bit of PRO-AM golf photography and a gorgeous baby or two and you have a basic idea of our first week of 2010.  Aon Benfield asked us to come through and photograph some of their brokers

so that they could use these pics on reports and company related paperwork.  I would recommend this to any company who thinks of themslelves of professional.  If you can’t even take the time to have proper staff and profile photos taken of your employees what is your service

like?  Great commercial photos of your staff members shows prospective clients that you give attention to the small details as well as being very professional.  Most people are slightly nervous in front of a camera so try and schedule your sessions so that every individual gets at least 15-20

Pregnancy is one of the “big milestones” in a woman’s life.  Just like your matric farewell and getting married…
