I’ve always had a thing about Horse-riding.
Whenever my family went on holiday when I was a child (even now still) if there is horse-riding facilities I will be on a horse sooner rather than later
I just adore horses and they usually have such a good temperament. I photographed Kim (a clinical psychologist for disabled children) for the GET-IT magazine. She uses the horses to help these children with balance and motor skills. These special horses get trained especially for this miracolous task.
I took these photos at a show called ‘Die Landbou skou’ in Thabazimbi which is a medium sized town. We were visiting my cousins who live out there and they were working at the show.
Naturally I had my camera with me and being a photographer I couldn’t resist taking a few pics. I was still studying photography at the time so this made for great practise. Since then I’ve photographed lots of outdoor sports as a professional photographer.
In the photo above I was literally sitting 2-3 metres from the jump and I can still vividly recall how it felt looking through the camera lens and feeling the earth moving whenever the horse landed on my side of the jump…

The thing that I like the most about being a photographer is that we get to voice our opinion in an artistic way. We have the privilege of sharing what we see with other people.
Even though you do the same thing everyday (take photos) you photograph different people, subjects and objects every day and this is what makes photography the ideal career choice. I really enjoyed being outdoors and photographing (ok except for the sunburn, being a photographer, once you put your eye to the lens of your camera time seems to fast forward without you realising it) As Louise always says, if you love what you do, you do what you love…

I’d never thought of doing pregnancy photos until I came across Louise’s website…..
