Kids are definitely the ones who rule this world, as they will do exactly what they want to do, at their own time, and if they don’t feel like laughing, they certainly will not. We try everything but stand on our heads to make those little people smile, and a giggle coming from someone that size, is just precious.

Kids are quite unpredictable, but we always suggest to all parents before a shoot, that some good advice is that to feed them, and if they are still young enough to nap – to have had them go down for a nap earlier in the day, is when we’ll get some good smiles. A tired kid just won’t give you much, even if you try any type of bribery. They are quite spent after a while. As our studio really try and focus more on the emotion of a shoot, where parents play with their children, or the kids get to enjoy themselves by playing with their cousins or siblings who came along, makes for lovely spontaneous laughs, rather than using props, which you might looks back on in a few years and maybe not like the look of in anymore.

We do quite a lot of e

ntertaining for them, but we truly do it for the love of the art, as we too – feel very proud when we get to look back at the gorgeous smiles of our little people.

Kids are the most honest people on this earth, and they can’t fake it, if they do it’s immediately spotted by the camera. Usually, some tickles and games bring cute smiles out of them, and we anticipate those moments, and work very hard to create them. We know that any family want smiling photos of their children, and when they’re still small, they have everything better to do than sit and smile for these ladies behind the camera.

We do everything we can to get them to smile, mostly with big success, and then – gorgeous results. Small children are cute afterall, and we understand they go through phases. Both Riani and I have been around kids for some years, and there’s a dynamic to making a little one feel important and the centre of attention, so to get beautiful smiles.

They grow at a rapid rate and seeing them a few months later, they have already changed and grew so much. It’s always a good idea to get photos of them at any stage, it’s to remember those toothless grins, or chubby cheeks, and waddle walks, and know that your shoot will always be of high quality when done at our studio, it’s our policy.

easter special

Easter in the southern hemisphere is when the trees start turning all sorts of wonderful colours because autumn is upon us, and the winter soon thereafter, which only means lovely fireplaces, hot chocolate and snuggly blankets.  Our Easter special is for all our clients, because even though the cold is creeping up on us, we’re not going anywhere and will still continue to do what we do.

It involves normal photo shoots like any other; the only great difference is the discount of 20% off of any shoot booked for the month of April. All care and effort would be taken to still make it a great, professional experience for all our clients, and you would still get your beautifully edited photographs and high-res cd from us, something few studios offer.

Our studio can be heated up, or cooled down as the season, or little babies for that matter, requires it, so no need to worry when bring little kiddies our to us, that you will freeze in the studio, it will be cozy and warm, so we’ll get to see everyone in April!!

With all the bad things we hear about every day, happening in the news, all around the world, one thing is for certain – love at least still exist, and we see it in all the stunning couples that walk through our doors, wanting to have a photo shoot done to portray their affection for each other. At many gatherings, functions & parties there are always photos taken of the two of you, but having it done in the studio is a great way to make sure all smiles look great, eyes are open, there are no unwelcome colour casts or busy backgrounds.
Louise Diesel Photography is called the Real Life Studio, for a few reasons. Not only is it our life and our own true love, because we breath what we do – it’s also to capture the real life moments of this world’s people. When people are in love they have this euphoric state of being amongst each other, and we get to capture that in between the giggles and loving stares at each other.

When just working with one person it’s great, but when working with two people that just mould into each other perfectly, it’s a joy to see.

memorable family photos

We encourage all families, to just have fun in our studio. To have stiff, very posed family portraits, had its place in society, and were certainly something that many families wanted for their families’ representation. At Louise Diesel Photography, we pride ourselves in being called the Real Life Studio, because it’s all about cutting loose, and just relaxing.

With many families they find that hard, because their children are small, and small children could be quite challenging to photograph – but we do all but about stand on our head to make little one laugh and smile, and eventually, we get gorgeous ones out of them.

When you have props or ideas you want to try out, please present your ideas to us, and we’ll definitely see how we can make it work, as we also would want our clients to be happy, and their shoot a great memorable experience.

These girls, had such a great time, and with them moving away, and mom wanting great pictures of all of them now that their older, they used red lipstick as a symbol of who they are as a trio, and they had a blast, we laughed the whole shoot through.

Our clients are what make our studio, and we wouldn’t exist if not for the lovely energy that they bring.

Lifestyle family photography is all about a family unit having fun together (in a photography studio) whilst a creative photographer is capturing all the special moments in between.

Being part of a family unit makes you feel that you belong somewhere.  There is certain signals, inside jokes, sayings and “that face” which only your family will understand and laugh at and joke about (because they know exactly what happened when a certain joke was told or why you are pulling such a face)

Being from a big Afrikaans family I can write volumes about all of these inside jokes shared between siblings, and this is one of the many reasons why I love to capture this powerful family bond through what we call “lifestyle family photography”. I always joke that my family is like their own little colony of 12 people (and that’s only counting brothers, sisters, their better halves and a few kids…).

When we say lifestyle photography you might raise the question:”What this means?”  Well it’s all about fun, interactive posing.  Doing things together like piggyback rides, kicking soccer balls around, playing imaginary instruments and doing fun poses along with the family dog.

We love to share in these special moments and to have a good laugh at these “age -old” jokes which nobody will ever forget.  So cpome and join us for a morning (or afternoon) of bonding and shared laughter…

To pride oneself in being able to call yourself a professional photography studio, is quite a loaded statement, which has to be true to certain standards. That being said, photography is all about creating dimension – because dimension gets lost with photos, the subject can’t be heard, or touched, or smelled, or tasted, and it’s the photographer’s responsibility to bring back a certain dimension, so that the photograph has depth, literally, and figuratively. When we work with the lights in the studio, it is set-up to a way, that it creates the right amount of shadows, which immediately makes for a more of an appealing photograph.

When using it in modeling photography, it’s about using the model’s cheekbones, or the curves of a beautiful neck, or any other of the lovely lines a body consists of.  We use gradual lighting for our maternity shoots as well, because a pregnant tummy has a gorgeous shape, and one can accentuate that so much. Using the lights feathering, and the fall-off towards the side, creates just a little bit of light in small places, like the fold of an arm.

What will actually define you as professional, is being able to use your equipment, in all possible lighting conditions, and knowing what type of result it would give you. When you decide to become a photographer, a very helpful asset to adapt, is the ability to read light, all types, as they all give different results and colourcasts. In the studio, we use equipment set to 5000K, or more, which has the white effect, of sunlight.
