We are a very accommodative and flexible studio, and would always try and see how we can meet our clients halfway. When we have a newborn in the studio that is quite unsettled, and just no photos is to be get out of him/her, we try and help the family by bringing mom back for a short second shoot. It isn’t the norm, and most small babies just need their mommy- or daddy’s comforting voice or touch to sooth them, but they are still small, and we understand that. And as their parents, you obviously want beautiful images with your little one, as they are so very small, and you feel so proud that they are so dependent on you still.

This particular mom has had a few shoots with our studio already, and we have gotten to know them before they had their boy. The first time baby was just not feeling it, but this time, we did manage to get the most beautiful photos of mom and babes.

Our clients truly become like our own families, we treat them as such as well, and we always feel very privileged when they want to come for more shoots. We hope to make so many more friends in our new studio, and urge everyone to come for their own special shoot.

When Louise-Anne finally called to say the twins had now been born, we were so excited. Especially Riani loves to do newborn photos, and we had such a gorgeous Maternity shoot with Louise-Anne and Cassidy that we just knew, photographing the twins would only produce amazing images.

They were completely chilled and relaxed, and slept through the whole shoot. Mom had such a great hand on them, one even wondered how she seemed so in control of two babies, and that that should actually be the norm. Daddy is such a tall, big guy, that we enjoyed posing them with him just to show their small size in comparison.

A very good time to bring newborns for their own shoot is at roundabout 10-12 days, so closely two weeks old. A bit smaller and they tend to not be so secure away from the mother, and when they are a bit older they are a bit more aware of their surroundings, and tend to also squirm like little eels when you hold them. Nevertheless, our studio welcomes babies, and their proud parents, and would want you to bring baby when they are ready, and when your household is a bit more settled. Book now, for the most amazing photos of you and little one, images you will treasure forever.

photos for newborn babies

Taking photos of newborn babies have taught me many things over the years…

Patience is the first and foremost, take everything you have had in your life to teach you patience and multiply it by 5!  I have learnt that the best way to capture the innocence of a newborn baby is to forget about what you have got to do and just tap into their rhythm.  If they want to feed and you want to shoot, you will soon realize the error of your ways J  Happy baby, happy photographer and memories for parents to treasure!

Feeding in between truly does soother your baby in such a way that they cope much better with the experience of giving you wonderful photos.

A warm cozy environment is the second lesson.  Even though you as the photographer feel like you are in a sauna your little model is very snug and relaxed because of the heat, so make sure that you regulate the temperature for them.

It’s the little things that count, so do heat your hands before you touch the baby as they tend to be a lot more keen on being moved and tilted around.

And don’t forget to enjoy this little miracle!

Newborn babies are always such a pleasure to photograph!  Some are social butterflies, who just wants to look at everyone and all the goings on and others are slow to warm-up or settled babies.  Each one of these little individuals needs to be photograhed in a slightly different way to ensure the best results, which are beautiful photos.

This is why we spend a little time chatting with mom and dad right before we start the shoot to try and determine what kind of personality type your little one is so as to make everything run smoother.  All people has a “filter” of theings which we can tolerate during the day – for instance cars driving past your house in the street don’t “bother” you, you are aware of it but your brain filters it and tells you it’s not something you need to pay attention to (and this filter is influenced by all our senses hearing, sight, touch, smell etc)  When little babies are born they need to learn how to filter out “unimportant stimuli”  So they are extremely sensitive and don’t have a very high tolerance.

This is why it’s best to bring baby for their newborn shoot in the morning (as they haven’t been awake for long) and they haven’t been overstimulated as yet.  They tend to be much calmer and relaxed them.  And if we need to give them a short feed of 20mins or so, no problem as we do understand that they need this just to settle them.

So we know what they need and how to work with them , so that you have nothing to worry about and lovely photos to look forward to!

Welcoming your newborn baby into this world is a momentous decision, according to Elizabeth Stone: ”Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

The first few weeks fly past in a flurry overwhelming happiness and joy, nappies, feeds and little sleep and before you know it your newborn baby is 2-4 weeks old already and you find your self asking the question: “Where did the time go?”  So we certainly recommend booking your newborn photoshoot a few weeks in advance, and we know babies decide to come earlier so just let us know once they have arrived and we’ll schedule your newborn photoshoot for a time when they are between 7-12 days old.

This is the best window of time to have photos taken of your newborn baby (we have already taken photos of 56 newborn babies this year, and believe you me we are talking from previous experience and knowledge)  This is when they are “big enough” so that you can lay them down in a basket or blankie, unwrap and settle them and they will go right back to sleep (which is obviously great J )  They are still young enough so when they are posed for instance with their hands placed comfortably (and very cutely) resting under their face, they aren’t able to life their head and move the hand, make sense?

If you feel you need a little more info, or are slightly nervous for baby’s first trip out of the house, please don’t hesitate to give us a call and speak to one of our highly professional photographers.

We are in the process of upgrading our website, and we were looking though our amazing newborn photos and we thought we’d just delight you with them. Newborns are the most amazing little things on earth, and they have this unfortunate ability to lose that newborns look way too fast, when you still want to remember those adorable wrinkles and expressions.

We find it a big honour when we get to establish a good relationship with couples who are pregnant, and then when little one is born, bring them back again for their very first shoot. It’s great way to have your maternity shoot be special, with captivating images, that are not only tastefully done, but a beautiful remembrance of a time before a little human being changed your life, but it’s even more so special, when you get to bring your little baby, who has only you they can depend on, for a shoot that will get leave you with images of all their small features in a great quality product to keep always.

When your children are big and grown-up, you get to take out those photos, and remember a small person, who nothing but needed you for their survival, and we always aim to get the special bond between parents and that amazing baby, captured in our studio, here at LDP, The Real Life Studio.

Looking at your two year old toddler can you ever really remember how small she was…?  Not really, and if you take a look at your precious newborn photos taken in baby’s first three weeks it’s astonishing to see just how much they have grown!

They start out as precious tiny little miracles who need all your love and support and finally start growing into this independent little person who still needs your love and support, just in a very different way.  Anyone with toddler experience will know all about giving your toddler a chance to try something themselves (cos they want to and even though you know they can’t yet do it themselves you stand close by and help when they ask)

With our pro newborn baby photography we truly aim to capture the magic of every frown and yawn, capturing the very essence of this beautiful new life you so cherish.  We understand that it’s a life changing event to have this little person who is now the biggest part of your world, and I think that is why it is just so special.  Using your hands in some photos we try to “add scale” to show just how small they really are, so that in years to come when they are almost just as tall as you, you will look back at these photos  and remember just how they started out.

We would love to meet your newest addition to the family, and so for more information don’t hesitate to contact our friendly photographers at 011-869-7759
