A modeling shoot is literally for anyone, it’s the wrong perception to think only people who are professionally trained to do modeling shoots or have been doing for years would be able to do it. We have had so many people who try for their first shoot, and then it is only to get good portfolio shots done of themselves.

This girl is still quite young, and this was her first modeling shoot. I struck it very, very lucky with her; because she certainly has the good to make it far is she was to pursue a career in modeling.  She seemed to understand the light and how it falls on the lines of the body, so well, and her and I just worked so well together. We got such amazing images in the end, and even though I love this style of photography, and was quite proud of the result. I felt it a great honor when she and her mother mailed to let me know they are so satisfied with the result, and thanked me so much.

This job is like any other, it has it’s up and downs, but it certainly has the best perks when we get to work with such lovely people. It’s very fulfilling to live out our passion in these images.

Incredible Modeling photos

It’s a great privilege to photograph an aspiring model, and you can see that person has the right stuff. Riani likes to use the expression poetry and motion, and this shoot, certainly was pure poetry. A photographer shouldn’t just have the ability to shoot well, and use light strategically, but also be able to guide your model in such a way, that their shape and form makes for interesting images. You are the master of the light, and the model absorbs that light to highlight certain features, or show of their silhouette. Light is such a wonderful medium, and when it gets to collide with a subject who just knows how to works the camera, the photographer has to do very little, just shoot what’s happening in front of them.

This girl has the making of a star, and she understands posing very well. We had such fun, and she enjoyed the shoot so much, it truly showed. She only wanted to have great photos done, but is now thinking of pursuing certain forms of modeling as she kind of shocked herself in this shoot. It was her very first, and I always wish for models like these. Very sure of themselves, and who they are, and just embracing the shoot, making the best of every shot. Photographing male models in the studio is ultimately a more challenging as what it is to photograph women. Women are very well-known for their curves and their sensuality, and they usually have long hair and a certain air around them, that men just don’t have, and photographing women, is pure magic. The human body, and even more so the curves of a women have been the muse of many an artist through-out millennia and it didn’t matter if the women were small- or bigger built. Guys have different elements to them, and are differently built, having more of a block-built, and making that work in front of the camera, is a very interesting challenge. Modeling photography is a discipline of photography I enjoy tremendously, and making people appear glamorous and perfectly chiseled using good lighting and interesting poses, is something I admire, and try and do with great skill.

This particular model was such a pleasure to photograph, as he had previously done some advertising work, and knew how to use the light and his own frame very well.

Working with any type of model, I find such a pleasure, as a modeling shoot, is something different to the fun and energetic family shoots we have going on here. It’s a bit more posed, and instead of getting the very cute and natural expressions and smiles children has to give, it’s all about getting the very best side of the subject, and making them look fabulous.

We play a lot with light in out modeling shoots, and if it works in the photo, most things go. If you know the rules, you are more than allowed to break them, and we have found that a modeling shoot, gives the photographer a huge amount of freedom, because you can get creative, and create shadows where you might want them, or put light into certain places to accentuate that feature.

There are many opportunities for all forms of modeling, whether it be in advertisements, or photographically, or by becoming a catwalk model, and it all starts with a good portfolio, photos that show a bit of who you are, and your skill of posing and taking guidance from the photographer. We photographers play with light us our medium, and it’s something that gives us child-like joy. There is no more recognizable shape that the human-shape, and to light it flatteringly, makes for impactful photos. We play around with shadows as it curves around the contours of the face, and sues it to bring out or lessen certain features. One of the main reasons love photography so much, is because it combines both art, and mechanical science, perfectly. Like ballet as well, it’s both free, and disciplined at the same time, and with photography, we get to play, but create through a machine. With modeling photography it’s always the strive to light the model’s body, face and features in such a way, that it looks nothing but brilliant, and that it causes enough drama with shadows, or gives them flawless complexions with more flatter lighting.

Both Riani and I studied photography and were taught the complexities of lighting and how to use it best to your advantage, both in the studio, and on location where you have daylight, or tungsten, or other light sources to work with. I like posing and constructing a modeling shoot, bringing out the best in the model, and using wonderful light, to create a product of great quality for our clients.

Pro modeling photos for artists

We had a husband phoning us recently, telling us just how amazingly beautiful his wife is, and that he wants to honour who she is by giving her a modeling shoot. We thought that very sweet of him, and were very excited to meet him, and the beautiful wife he couldn’t seem to speak enough of.

The couple was so adorable together, and although he wasn’t keen on being in any of the photos, he was very pleased with the result of hers, and we could see how pleased he was that he had decided to book this shoot for her.
