This young woman just made my day by shooting with her, because she made me so excited for her future. She is interested in doing some modeling, either part time or full-time; she wants to see where it all goes. She had an amazingly sweet personality, a beautiful smile, and telling me about her studies and what she does in her spare time. When it came down to it she performed like a superstar, with great expressions, and posing as if she was made for it.

She is of Irish decent, and has a milky skin with these ice blue eyes, and one big mass of hair, which was great to work with. We had a great time shooting and she admitted that this was her first shoot ever; she had never done any shooting or modeling when she was younger. She has very striking features, and amazing lines to her, even though she is tiny in frame – a real dream come true for a photographer.

If you want to have great photos done of yourself  and you  aren’t quite sure how to go about it, the first places to start is with a  photoshoot, that shows your ways of holding yourself in front of the camera,  and it also shows you versatile. Our studio has done many amazing modeling- and portfolio shoots with international models, up-and-coming models, artists wanting to do a shoot for the cover of their album, or ordinary people just wanting to look great and want professional photos.

A modeling or portfolio shoot is one shoot where I completely let me mind creatively go and hope that the model will be able to grasp my conception. We always have such great people visit our studio and when we have someone coming for a modeling shoot, I know it’s time to break the rules and let my mind take me anywhere where we can get great images.

This young lady was beyond amazing. She has the sweetest, most adorable personality and smiles and laughs so easily. However  when it gets down to business magic just happens in front of the camera. The camera immediately fell head over all the heels in love with her.

She made it happen so gracefully and made it look so ridiculously easy while at it. We had such a great shoot together and at those moments in time you wish can’t they all be like that. I truly wish her the best in her career; she is definitely potentially one of the special young models who will make it big.

Modelling Photography Portraits

People always comment on how I make modelling shoots look easy. I suppose anything could be made to look easy, if it seems to come naturally for you, and just seems to flow out of you. For me, doing modeling and portfolio shoots, are something I really enjoy, and therefore is gives me great pleasure to give people products that take their breath away.

Not only do they surprise themselves by what they have achieved, but they seem to connect with me, and I with them.

A photographer isn’t just a service provider, and with technology being so freely and openly available, you could be sure to by a pretty decent camera at almost any store, for pretty reasonable prices, and go and take pictures of whatever you wished. It has to do with the bond that gets formed with subject and photographer, and you use you skill not just to get pictures that captivate an audience, but that makes the subject feel at ease with you capabilities.

Few people might be in quite such a great position, to love what they do, work hard for it, but work hard at it – knowing that pure passion is what is going to help you get that special something out of your subjects.

Modelling Portfolio Photography For Guys

Photographing a guy is ultimately a completely different challenge that of shooting a girl.

A girl has a sensual way about her, and any woman just has this way of handling herself, even when unaware. With many they also have long hair, which they use to put behind their ear for example, a move very unique to women, and it just wouldn’t look the same with a man doing it.

With guys you have different shapes to work with, their bodies are constructed differently, and it’s very interesting indeed, as it provides me with a different challenge in terms of lighting and posing.

I am very fond of modeling or portfolio shoots, we have so many enquiries for them, and we get to meet so many awesome people. It is remarkable that many of the subjects are not even that interested in career- or professional modeling, but simply want to have a great photographic portfolio taken of themselves.

Often when they see our work, they want to experience the quality we offer. I feel very blessed and privileged to provide this service to both men and women who come and shoot with me.

One of my most ultimate favourite shoots is doing modelling, or portfolio shoots, because it’s one of those shoots that still keep you very much on your toes.

Every subject is different, they all have different ways o handling themselves, and how comfortable they are in their own skins, and I get to work with so many wonderful people.

A shoot that is all about the beauty of the person, and we using light creatively and strategically to show that off.

Our studio is very privileged to have so many modelling enquiries, is it means I get to do so many of these shoots where I get to use this skill, and play around, seeing magic happen right in front of my eyes.

Many of these models absolutely amaze themselves and sometimes don’t even recognise themselves when I show them what we have created together. It’s truly astonishing, and I find it such an amazing blessing and privilege.

Modelling Portfolio Photography

Contrast is something I didn’t understand, until very late into my studies. I have to say it is quite an art,  but it was only when I mastered the intricacies of using contrast and form, that the really magical things started happening.

Contrast is easily misunderstood, and if you get it wrong, your audience will mostly not get what you were trying to do. We were taught that you want your viewers to either like, or dislike your images, because then you evoke emotions, a very powerful aspect of art.

But you wouldn’t want them to say that they don’t get it, because confusion means you missed the plot a bit, and even though it creates good debate, it might not be what you were going for. You wanted them to feel some passion for your work, and contrast is one of the most forceful ways of getting your viewers to feel strongly about your work.

Modelling Portfolios Photographs Must Evoke A Reaction, Stir The Emotions Of The Viewer!

So whether they like it or not, you win in both cases, because you stirred something inside.

The photographers, who put their life on the line and shoot war-photography, or capture scenes of destruction and poverty, make their viewers cringe a bit when they get to view the images, but many of these images are so haunting and powerful, and stay with you for some time. The photographer’s mission has thus then accomplished.

So when something such as contrast is understood, you get to know how you can make a photograph pop, and steer your viewers into the thought patterns of your mind, and what you were trying to achieve.

Using Photography To Create An Impact

In modeling photography, we get to use light and the human shape, for amazing images, and because there are no rules, I push and create, and ultimately, amaze myself.

Few things give me this amazing satisfaction, than taking a shot, through a mechanical machine, and then having it come out as breathtaking when opened. Some models just seem to have what we like to call poetry in motion, and with this lovely girl, it was exactly the case. She has a vision to become a model, and has chosen it has her carrier, and one very critical skill any aspiring model must learn is definitely to take good direction, sometimes the direction we are moving in is great, but with a small tweak the pose is perfected, and she seemed to understand that. I am always grateful and feel privileged to work with such promising people; they inspire me too, and make my job such a joy. Times seems to just fly by in a shoot like this, because the more we get into it, the more we find a great groove, and the more we want to discover what we can still do together as model and artist.

She had such a great time, and was extremely proud of herself, something which I wouldn’t even take the credit for, she completely pulled it out of her own self, and found her magic inside.

We always want to do what we like in any kind of job or career, it doesn’t always work like that. But if you set the intend to do magic, and to work with great people, and get to do amazing things, the lesser great times are so much easier to handle. A shoot like this will make me smile for very long still, because I get to be inspired, and I get to hand people a product that they can be proud of.
