I have known these two since both of them just finished school. Now they’re married and still crazily in love after years of dating. Photographing them is always such a breeze because their love for each other comes very naturally. Photographing outside presents a whole different dynamic which is something I am slowly but surely becoming very addicted to.
I just adore photographing couples on location as they seem to get to be just themselves, something we are all naturally good at. When you have the air of Cape Town around you and you visit beautiful and interesting places, such a Woodstock, and The Old Biscuit Mill, you mingle with a melting pot of all different kinds of people and these two have adapted the free lifestyle synonymous to the Cape.
I am always grateful to visit and always eager to pull them close for another couple session.

For the rest of South Africa, Cape Town might as well be a completely different universe altogether. There is a certain vibe for which Cape Town is actually known for and can’t be recreated anywhere else. Inside the city of Cape Town there is this wonderful trendy street called Long Street/ Lang Straat –where you are bound to find the most amazing things.
I have had a fascination with doors for quite some timebecause it is one of those things that the blueprint of it hasn’t really changed since it presented itself- it still opens with a handle for the most part, and swings sideways – how they look and have changed over the years is mostly what has changed. In Long Street I found the most amazing doors – all these portholes to the world, either letting something in or keeping something out and they all make me wonder, if there are all these doors, there must a whole new life to see behind all of them.
On trips you must always keep your camera handy as you might find the most wonderful things that grab you in an emotional surprising way, something to make you remember your trip forever.

People always feel more at ease in their own environment. Most of us aren’t natural models but we still want great photos. Therefore at LDP as perfect solution we get loving couples at a location chosen by them so they can relax and we get the shots they want
All we ask of the couple is just to play and enjoy the moment of being there. Even though some posing is involved, it’s more like the photographer moves around the couple and get the shot as it appears. Couples already have this thing that is happening between them, all we have to do is make the elements work in their favour.

This young girl decided that for her 14th birthday she wants a photoshoot with her and some of her friends. I get a phone call from her mother explaining how she wants this done, and that they are ready for some serious fun in the studio. She also explained how her daughter has alopecia, which caused her to unfortunately not have a lot of hair. Her mother said they brought her up to fight for her place in the world, and how she actually has such a strong self-esteem, and her friends are absolutely crazy about her.
This bunch of girls made my day, they always have a way of showing the lighter side of life, and they are so giddy amongst each other all you can do is laugh and go with it. This brave girl has such a great attitude about life, and she is very positive, not letting her illness get her down.
Tweenies are the bunch right after you have put your Barbies away, but do not quite fit yet into adulthood, and it’s such a special time for a girl. I enjoyed them thoroughly, and would advise any person wanting to do such a type of shoot for their kids, to come and have some fun with us in the studio – it’ll be memories they never forget.

We welcome the times when our families come to visit us for their special shoots. Usually little kids are involved who sometimes just have the darndest things to say. You can see why their parents are completely in love with them, and want to have those little faces captured forever.
It’s a job I enjoy with everything I am, because I get to be focused while I work in post-production on our clients’ images, making them amazing and keeping to the standard people have come to expect from the studio, but when I get to work with the actual people who made those images happen, I fall in love all over again with the reason this was chosen for me in the first place.
With portraiture, the main goal is basically to make the bond that family members share, visible, and it doesn’t take a big kid who can already hug and kiss properly to show, it could take this little amazing baby who gives great heart-warming kisses as well.

This young man’s after party following his very important big day was quite crazy. Earlier that day they celebrated his Bar Mitzvah, a profound event in any Jewish family’s life, and after the formalities, they decided to have all of his friends together for a great night of fun. There were amazing dancers, and a band that played on the drums.
About 100 13-year olds were running around us, we truly were wondering where all of that energy came from. Mom—in-charge did such a fantastic job with the décor, the place looked amazing, very vibrant and colourful.
They opted for a party photo booth, this has the amazing ability to just get the crazy out of most people – something we actually love because people get to relax more, and be natural in front of the camera.
It’s almost as if they get to step out of themselves a bit, and become some other persona.
Next time you are planning a big event to mark of a special occasion in your family’s life, be sure to contact the studio – we’ll be sure to capture your evening in style an fun.

Louise has an insatiable hunger for traveling, and they have been in the great position to have seen so many beautiful places. Every now and again through, she stays closer to home, and escapes to one of the many wonderful places South Africa has to offer.
Santé Spa is one of South Africa’s top resorts, and has an amazing setting. Which views like such, you can’t not take your camera with to just try and capture in some small way the wonder of the scenes in front of you. Landscapes are usually best taken, when they go through nature’s transformation when the sun sets or rises, its then when things such as mountain ranges or treetops come alive, and show of their recognizable silhouettes.
Always try and take these inspiring photos at dawn, as the air is ten very fresh and the scene is quite tranquil, as if the day is only waiting to happen. Or rather, take it at sunset, when our have warm colors filling the sky as the sun is actually below the clouds.
Landscape photos are such a fulfilling way of spending some of your time when on holiday, it’s very peaceful and beautiful, and it makes you appreciate so many things more. Next time when away, don’t forget the camera, and remember to go and explore to wonderful gifts life nature gives us.

“The shoot was so much fun thanks to Louise and Riani who managed to get smiles from everyone including a very tetchy 10 month old and a sulky 6 year old!
We had so many beautiful photos, it was impossible to choose –we ended up getting all of them!”
