Friday afternoon was spent in glitz and glamour taking photos of Aisha’s matric farewell dress, gorgeous shoes and awesome limo…  I was enjoying myself so much and had time to take a silhouette photo (which is actually really easy to do)  Here is my top photography tip for the day.

When taking a silhouette photo keep in mind that you are losing alot of detail so your silhouetted shaped has to be recognisable.  You will see in my shot that I specifically asked Aisha to turn her face to the side so that we would have a beautiful profile showing.  Then you need to have light cming from behind your subject (windows in north facing houses are ideal for this.

You have to then set your exposure for the background behind your subject (which is lit much more brightly than your subject) and this will in “underexpose” your subject , in technical terms, and create a silhouette.  Now you try…

Creating amazing pregnancy photos is all about teamwork.  The subject and the photographer must both have a clear idea of the photo in mind, the photographer will make it happen all you need to do is keep an open mind.  I must say that it has taken me a few years of learning the art of perfectly lighting pregnant bellies but it was all worth it…

  Photography is all about being creative and we just love if you bring some of your own ideas for your maternity photos.  Then we know you won’t mnd if we have to experiment with a new lighting technique as you are quite keen to get that shot that you have carried in your mind ever since you became pregnant.

To build up a great modelling portfolio you need to be a confident model and have photos taken by the best model photographer.  Being confident is all about knowing what makes you look good and knowing yourself.  Or even better why not just have photos taken of yourself without having a reason like a portfolio.  Do it just because…  

 I did it (and I have to tell you that I am totally camera shy) and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and absolutely adore the photos so thy not just give it a try…? 

Melissa came through to our studio to update her portfolio as she is part of a ad casting agency and needs to have a current portfolio.  I think the results are awesome, don’t you?

Can you believe that tonight is the final match of the 2010 FIFA World cup soccer tournament in South-Africa?!  It felt like we waited and prepared our country for ages and after tonigh it will all be over.  In my opinion either team who walks out of this world cup as winners are a worthy team.  The Soccer World Cup has truly united our country with one heart and it is with pride and gratitude that I will watch tonight’s final game.  May the best team win
