These are the types of things that make for extra-ordinary unique one-of-a-kind photos. We make sure to get everyone smiling and happy for the photos of the family. But with the younger children who live in imaginary worlds and have their own unique mannerisms and quirks, we want to get the best out of them and many times doing it in this way gets great reactions. Next time when you want to do a family shoot, you could even consider hiring some costumes, or bringing fun props – and then, let’s go play!

That short phase between not being a little girl anymore and playing with dolls and not fully adult yet and still have to listen to Mom – is a great place to be. The tweenies shoots are some of my favourites.

I’m almost 30, but when I get to spend some time with these girls, I feel just as young as them. They have endless amounts of energy and they all seem to speak at once which could get you quite dizzy. Really amazing images come from these shoots and it’s an interesting, unique and cool way to celebrate a young lady’s birthday. We always do group shots, getting the whole group together, pulling faces, and joking around  and then we get some individuals of the girls as well, to make sure the birthday girl gets to remember each of her special friends. It’s a time of their lives that seem to pass too quickly, but it still is loads of fun and we would recommend anyone thinking of doing a group shoot with teenage girls or boys, to have it with us in the studio, it’s an experience you will never forget.

This young girl decided that for her 14^th birthday she wants a photoshoot with her and some of her friends. I get a phone call from her mother explaining how she wants this done, and that they are ready for some serious fun in the studio. She also explained how her daughter has alopecia, which caused her to unfortunately not have a lot of hair. Her mother said they brought her up to fight for her place in the world, and how she actually has such a strong self-esteem, and her friends are absolutely crazy about her.

This bunch of girls made my day, they always have a way of showing the lighter side of life, and they are so giddy amongst each other all you can do is laugh and go with it. This brave girl has such a great attitude about life, and she is very positive, not letting her illness get her down.

Tweenies are the bunch right after you have put your Barbies away, but do not quite fit yet into adulthood, and it’s such a special time for a girl. I enjoyed them thoroughly, and would advise any person wanting to do such a type of shoot for their kids, to come and have some fun with us in the studio – it’ll be memories they never forget.

I found this wonderful quote on the internenet today and thought it would be perfect to add onto our blog about newborn baby photography :”A new baby is like the beginning of all things, hope, a dream of possibilities…”

This  quote is exactly what makes each newborn baby photoshoot so unique and magical.  Having photographed a significant number of newborn babies in our studio the wonderful promise they bring never ceases to amaze me.  They are so beautifully pure and this is what we portray in our photos pf these little people….

Having a newborn baby in the house literally turns your house and routine upside down (and that’s probably how you will feel for quite a while) The first few weeks of their lives just whizzes past you as you are getting to know them and coping with sleep deprivation.  Don’t think you are alone if you feel a little bit nervous when taking your little one out of the house for the first time, to our studio, as this is a perfectly natural feeling for parents with new babies and so we take the utmost of care to heat the studio perfectly and keep your little one (as well as our new mommy and daddy) extremely comfortable as we talk you through each of our poses.

And if your little newborn baby needs to have a “lunch break” in between we really don’t mind as it’s really hard work to be such a perfect model

The ideal time to have your baby’s newborn photos taken is when they are between 5-10 days old.  They are still as comfortably flexible as a gymnast but “old enough” to feel safe when they are unwrapped.

We consider it an absolute pleasure and honour to take the first photos of your newborn angel…

Newborn baby photography in Johannesburg

A family has so many parts of one whole, and each family is unique, therefore we treat each family shoot here at Louise Diesel Photography, differently. Some people have some ideas already of what they want to get out of the shoot. Others only had one objective, which is to get some great photos of the family together, so if we as photographers can guide in helping with posing or set-ups, they would go for it.

The backdrop could seem quite a scary place to many people, almost like a stage, and posing could almost be seen as performing in a way too, and using some bribing, and pure human interacting with joking and talking to your subjects, could have even the most “unphotogenic” person, smiling. We don’t believe in such a thing in anyway, and find that most people feel they don’t actually like photos, or feel they really don’t take them well, and we stand in awe, of very often, those exact people, as we have gotten something special out of them at the end of the day.

Some people’s pets are like their own children, and we see that special bond also definitely as an opportunity to be recorded here at our studio, so we welcome them, and feel it a fun, special way of photographing your life’s memories here with us at Louise Diesel Photography Studio.

I have spent a day at Sinzinani day spa and man oh man, did we have a good time.  Their therapists are highly-qualified and very professional and best of all the day is all about rejuvenating your body and mind.  I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Taking commercial photos for a spa can be quite tricky as there isn’t always natural light available and this forces you to make your exposures longer and use professional

photography equipment like a tripod and a Canon 5D mkii (which we love to use).  Firstly we had to get our model to settle in comfortably (if you don’t feel comfortable, the photo won’t look comfortable).  Then make sure you get the shots which the client requires from you but don’t forget to do a few creative spa shots either.

Commercial photography involves a lot of planning before you can even consider taking the actual photo.  Make sure that you have a sit-down meeting with your client to discuss their vision and needs for this commercial photoshoot.  What is possible and how do they want to use the specific commercial photograph.

Lastly, push your boundaries and have fun!
