Lifestyle family photography is all about having fun together with your family whilst a creative photographer is capturing all the moments in between.  Being part of a family unit makes you feel that you belong somewhere.  There is certain signals, inside jokes and sayings that only your family will laugh at and joke about (because they know exactly what happened when a certain joke was told etc).

Coming from a big Afrikaans family I can write volumes about all of these inside jokes shared between siblings, and this is one of the many reasons why I love to capture this powerful family bond through what we call “lifestyle family photography”.  It’s because I am part of a family of 12 people (and that’s only counting brothers, sisters, their better halves and a few kids…).  When we say lifestyle photography what do we mean by it you ask?  Well it’s all about fun interactive posing.

Doing things together like piggyback rides, kicking soccer balls around, playing imaginary instruments and doing fun poses along with the family dog.  We love to capture just how unique you and your family is in such a way that you can decorate your walls with these fun family moments…

I just have to tell you guys about this photoshoot!!!  Let’s start right at the beginning which was the Friday night before the photoshoot … We played Action Hockey Semi-Finals on the Friday night and with 1:38 mins to go on the clock I got hit with a stick and needed to get stitches.  We ended up just using those “stitch-plasters” to close the wound.  On the Saturday

there-after I have a photoshoot with 3 year old Bandla and his family.  He is such an inquisitive little boy, he noticed that my jean had fashionable tears in them, and he also asked me about all the photos on the walls.  Then he looked up at me and asked me what is on my eye (what happened) and his mom told him that it was an eina.  He then looked up at me

quizzically like just a 3 year old can and told me that I look like BEN10.  How adorable is that!?  Moments like these are what make my job so interesting.  Come and spend a day with me in the studio and you will never be the same again!

Mothers’ Day, don’t you think it’s funny how this is the one day in the year when we try to show our mothers how incredibly special they are to us…? (We should be doing this every day of the year) This year, instead of buying your mother a generic mothers’ day card and a box of chocolates, why don’t you make a handwritten card in which you tell her exactly what she means to you and how much she has made a positive impact on your life… And then to top this off you need to give her the most unique present ever, something like… a

photoshoot gift voucher!? Your mom and my mom have got something in common even though they have never met before. They love to see their kids happy, laughing and enjoying themselves. Buy your mom a voucher for a family photoshoot, get the whole family together and come and have fun and make memories in our studio. Make use of our fantastic Mothersday Special:”20% off all photoshoots taken during the week” (until the end of May). For more information on this Mothersday Special contact us on info@louisedieselphotography.co.za or call us on 011 869 7759

“Babies are such a sweet and nice way to start people.” – Anon

Always kiss your children goodnight – even if they’re already asleep.
- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
If your baby’s “beautiful and perfect, never cries or fusses, sleeps on schedule and burps on demand, an angel all the time,” you’re the grandma. ”

“When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. ”
James Matthew Barrie

When I look at these photos I can still hear the girls giggling…  It made me think of my sister and I when we were that age.  You are laughing so much that your stomach hurts and yet

you cannot explain to any person why :-)   The “H”s made me think of my family, a lot of people with their own beautiful language.  They have three conversations at a time and yet

everyone knows exactly what is going on.  This bunch was so lively I decided that the best way to photograph them would be Lifestyle photography here at the real life studio.  So we

made jokes, had everyone lying on top of each other and little “M” doing his signature model move (lying on his stomach next to whoever was being photographed… :-)   )  For the Real Life Studio experience come and join us for a morning of family fun and laughter ( and gorgeous photos)

Each and every kid is driven by something they don’t even understand yet…  It is called curiosity :-)   This urge is the thing which makes them learn more and more of the world around them in an effortless way.  So use this to your advantage when photographing kids.  Tell there is a birdie (any kind of animal they like) in the lens of the camera and they should try and see it.  Another great photography tip is to ask them to pull funny face at the camera and then show it to them on the screen.  This usually gets them going.  Anything fun and interesting makes kids want to participate so keep your shoot just that…!
