Easter in the southern hemisphere is when the trees start turning all sorts of wonderful colours because autumn is upon us, and the winter soon thereafter, which only means lovely fireplaces, hot chocolate and snuggly blankets. Our Easter special is for all our clients, because even though the cold is creeping up on us, we’re not going anywhere and will still continue to do what we do.
It involves normal photo shoots like any other; the only great difference is the discount of 20% off of any shoot booked for the month of April. All care and effort would be taken to still make it a great, professional experience for all our clients, and you would still get your beautifully edited photographs and high-res cd from us, something few studios offer.
Our studio can be heated up, or cooled down as the season, or little babies for that matter, requires it, so no need to worry when bring little kiddies our to us, that you will freeze in the studio, it will be cozy and warm, so we’ll get to see everyone in April!!

To pride oneself in being able to call yourself a professional photography studio, is quite a loaded statement, which has to be true to certain standards. That being said, photography is all about creating dimension – because dimension gets lost with photos, the subject can’t be heard, or touched, or smelled, or tasted, and it’s the photographer’s responsibility to bring back a certain dimension, so that the photograph has depth, literally, and figuratively. When we work with the lights in the studio, it is set-up to a way, that it creates the right amount of shadows, which immediately makes for a more of an appealing photograph.
When using it in modeling photography, it’s about using the model’s cheekbones, or the curves of a beautiful neck, or any other of the lovely lines a body consists of. We use gradual lighting for our maternity shoots as well, because a pregnant tummy has a gorgeous shape, and one can accentuate that so much. Using the lights feathering, and the fall-off towards the side, creates just a little bit of light in small places, like the fold of an arm.
What will actually define you as professional, is being able to use your equipment, in all possible lighting conditions, and knowing what type of result it would give you. When you decide to become a photographer, a very helpful asset to adapt, is the ability to read light, all types, as they all give different results and colourcasts. In the studio, we use equipment set to 5000K, or more, which has the white effect, of sunlight.

Babies, keeps us young, and it’s astonishing, how such a little person, can already have such a strong will of their own, and they definitely have their way of making themselves heard. Babies express without any resistance and so truthfully and honestly, and it’s exactly because of that reason, that we enjoy photographing them so much. Not to take away from the high cuteness degree though…
Best times to photograph babies, is not set in stone to specifics, just importantly, when they’ve been fed, and they’ve had a healthy nap so that they are giving us their ultimate amount of smiles. Its better just to bring them, when they have had the above, as it will benefit mostly them. The studio could be a place unlike any other they’ve seen- as it’s not grandma’s house, or their own, and they could be a bit overwhelmed by a large white backdrop, and big studio lights, so we would want to have them at their friendliest.
People often ask us, what do they need to wear, and we say, what works well, is dressing uniformly, in like colours, or all just being brightly dressed. Especially babies have such lovely personalities; it has to be brought out by dressing them all brightly. Whatever age though, they still stay cute and wonderful, and a baby shoot at Louise Diesel Photography studio, is a great idea.

Cute baby photos is all about capturing their expressions…
From big time frowns, to the wide open mouthed smiles (just gums everywhere
) Yes, ages and stages is one of the most beautiful things babies go through and the best way to remember every little thing is to have professional baby photos taken. Take little Hudson (nice name don’t you think) for instance, he is one of few babies who actually prefer lying on his tummy rather than sitting up all by himself. Everytime I smiled at him he just smiled right back.
I think this is part of the magic of babies, they are so innocent and just give love freely to anyone who would take a minute and talk to them. I can see many girls lining up at your doorstep with this gorgeous “big” little boy in the house. Baby Photography is an art which we have perfected, give them a little bit of love and attention and they will give you smiles (and maybe a little of drool if your lucky
) all the way!

Babies are wonderful creatures – adults, can’t express themselves in the wonderful way as babies do. Babies have a way to pull their little faces, or smile in such cute ways, and we secretly want to smile too, when we get to capture those on camera. It’s hard to believe they become us – adult, walking, talking, independent human beings, because when they’re that little, and still need their mommies and daddies for everything, you can’t believe we were all there at one point in time.
We work hard to get those little smiles out of babies, and with success, we mostly get brilliant ones. Girls and boys are different, a 3-month old, and a 6-month old are different, shy children and expressionistic, outgoing children are different, and we have had all shapes and sizes in our studio, getting up to all kinds of weird and wonderful things.
Being proud of the fact that we can call ourselves professional, we use professional equipment, and we have a proper background in the studio, as we know how babies could be smiling one minute still, and crying the next, so we have to work fast, while smiles are still somewhat there. Babies give it all, unpretentiously, and with who they are, and we want to get the best pictures of them, while we still have that time when they smile.

We’ll always love babies, as there are no cuter- and more perfect creatures on this earth, than them. It’s also quite challenging – babies are inquisitive, and they are curious about everything. They also KNOW that the world revolves around them, and when they want something, they want it NOW. They really grow so fast, and at point come to a stage where they found their feet, and want to run around as much they can, sitting still, isn’t an option.
We understand this dynamic, and have photographed many babies, ranging from a day or two old – to as much as where they can’t be considered babies anymore, and we understand they go through changes and phases.
One cardinal rule for good laughing photos is a baby, with a full tummy, and one who has had a good nap not to earlier before. It’s sometimes hard enough as it is, but even more so when trying to photograph a baby who’s tired, or hungry. We find the lights, and handling them, and constantly probing them to smile, -tires them out so much as it is, so starting off with a baby who is smiling because they have had their nap and a meal, or a snack – is a good start.

Babies, will always be cute, and we- HAVE to capture that. It’s such a waist to have those terrific toothless smiles, chubby cheeks and soft little bodies, and not photograph them. For your little person it could be quite new experience, even with maternity shoots, we find the mommies tell us how they can feel the baby move inside, as they definitely sense the light.
Studio lights are very bright, they are calibrated to sunlight, which is white, stark light, and so your little one could be a bit intimidated by all of it, and start to get a bit fussy. We really try and not push them beyond their limits as they are still so small, but we advise parents to bring baby when they have fed, and have gone down for a nap, we want them as comfortable as possible, as this will obviously make for the best photos.
Newborns keep their newborn-look only for awhile, after that they start to be aware of things around them to a degree, and wriggle a bit more. We have a package in our list, that is a combined maternity- and newborn shoot, and we ask the new mommies & daddies to bring their baby, as soon as they can after birth. We understand that it isn’t always possible; sometimes baby has to stay in hospital for various reasons and getting used to this little person’s new routine in a household, is quite a challenge. But when you can, bring baby, as new, and young as possible, and you will be guaranteed to great, stunning professional photos here at Louise Diesel Photography studio, The Real Life Studio.
