The last time I saw “J” was when he was but a few months old… His hair was much darker (almost black) and he had a fair skin (seeing that he was still a baby and didn’t get exposed to sun too much. I can’t believe how big he has gotten. He slides everywhere on his tummy and can now sit

by himself
This is one of the pleasure’s of being a photographer, you get to be a part of someone else’s life and this makes every photoshoot special in it’s own right. You have to be quick when photographing toddlers, they often don’t like to lie on their tummy’s for a very long time and

get bored really fast. Get down to their level and entertain them. Play peek-a-boo from behind the camera and remember to smile a lot. Children tend to imitate our behaviour so of course they might just smile back at you. Try to capture every little smile and expression as they seem to have so many of them. Have fun!

The art of photographing couples lies in capturing the dynamics of this very special relationship. It is always best to start off by having a conversation and finding common ground between you and the couple and from there just letting them chat and laugh with you guiding the

conversation to funnier topics
We use unique poses which are also interactive so you will have fun while having your phoots taken. A little whisper or piggyback just sets the mood. And to spice everything up just a little bit you can always dress up for a night on the town so that you

feel even more confident (which will definitely show in your photos) For more info contact us on info@louisedieselphotography.co.za

As it happens I decided to take my Boxer dogs with me on holiday for the first time ever and I must say that it was a fantastic experience. We went to the Drakensberg and stayed over on this little house which is far away from any technology and other people so we didn’t have problems with the dogs bothering anyone. The one dog ended up coming down with the flu (I suspect this was caused by the weather change from JHB to the mountains of the Drakensberg) so I had to take him

to the Vet which was a 40 min drive from where we stayed. While sitting in the waiting room I saw a magazine cover with a photo of a donkey silhouetted against a beautiful orange sky and this is what gave me the idea to try the same kind of silhouette photo of my dogs and this was the result. Not 100% what I was looking for but still truly beautiful…

As we stand in the beginning of this new year which is so full of possibilities let’s take some time to review how far we’ve come in life but also where we want to go in our lives so that we can become more fulfilled people.

“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin–real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”– Alfred D. Souza
“I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure–which is:
Try to please everybody.”
Herbert Bayard Swope
“Success is the good fortune that comes from aspiration, desperation, perspiration and inspiration.”
Evan Esar
“Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can.” — Danny Kaye
“Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever…”– Isak Dinesen
“Life is like a game of poker: If you don’t put any in the pot, there won’t be any to take out. “-Moms Mabley

Can you believe that in all these years of following my passion (photography) I have never once tried to photograph lightning…? Unbelievable I know. As mentioned we spent some quality family time in the Drakensberg this Christmas and we happened to be up on the tops of this mountain range. So we were able to witness a lighting storm which was actually really far away. Being at almost the same height as the clouds so

to speak we were able to witness (and photograph) the spectacular lighting bolts shooting from the sky without being in any real danger. This is where a digital camera came in handy. You can take as many photos as you like and review them quickly and easily so that you can then adjust your settings. What I did was to close the aperture slightly (changing from anything from f8 up to f11) and then I did long exposures like 10

seconds, 15 seconds, and 20 seconds. It literally is anyones guess as to what settings to use when photographing lightning as every lightning bolt is different and so is your exposure. I have to admit this was really fun to do and it took a lot of guess work to figure out the exposure but was worth it in the end!

The best memorable moment in our lives was when Baby Bibi Fatima was born. The second best moments were when we came in to the Louise Diesel studio to capture ourspecial family memories…
