The P’s were slightly nervous about having a family photoshoot done at first, but as soon as they got going they definitely didn’t want to stop

They are a big Afrikaans family exactly like mine.  There is usually 3 conversations going on at any one time (which is the norm) but with my family there is usually little kids chasing each other around the house and giggling hysterically…

For lots of people coming around to our studio is a first time experience and so they don’t know what to expect.  Here a at Louise Diesel Photography we know exactly how you dread stepping in front of the lens of a camera (because  we sometimes  feel the same)

We will help you by playing fun music, suggesting different funky poses and just to have loads of fun.  It might be your first time coming for a photoshoot but our photographers do this every day and so with this unique knowledge they are able to turn the whole experience into a whole lot of fun for everyone

Donté Smith is the name and he is the new kid on the block… Without any formal training Donté plays the piano, composes music and writes his own lyrics.

He has always been a big fan or R&B and so it comes as no surprise that his music falls right into the R&B genre and you can definitely put him right up there with artists like Neo and Justin Timberlake.

Donté stumbled onto his talent one day when he sat down in front of a keyboard and tried out some notes just for fun.  It just felt so right he told his mom and he hasn’t stopped playing since…

On average he can write one song a day (or more) when he really puts his mind to it.  Amazing hey?  He says that sometimes its like the typical thing of a song just randomly popping into his head and he needs to write it down, but more often than never he sits down and works it through at his own time.

When Donté sings it’s like a transformation that takes place within him, when you listen to his heartfelt lyrics you realize that it touches some part deep within your soul…

Donté I think you are heading for great things and I am privileged to have been a part of your journey so far and I look forward to creating your image with you creative input…!

Photographing interiors and exteriors of houses and old buildings is one of my passions.  Well okay, photographing pretty much anything is a passion for me…

Interior designers do not design house to be photographed easily, they design houses to be visually appealing.  When photographing houses, interiors and exteriors you have a few different light sources to keep in mind and balance.

Photographing houses is all about great lighting.  The best time to do these photos are in teh early morning and late afternoon.  (I know it sounds cliche and you have heard it a million times…  But that means there is truth to the statement)

You have to look at the lines and flow of the room you are taking photos of.  Do you need to use a slightly higher or lower angle to make sure you get every detail, or do you need to compensate with your White Balance because the flourescent kitchen lights are casting the room in a slightly green colour?

So yes, photographing interiors and exteriors are hadr work and it takes a little bit of thought, but all good things are worth working hard for.  These photos are visually very pleasing and they could easily be displayed as magazine quality interior photographs.

I just love newborn babies! The tinier they are, the better! I can’t explain it – I am just so drawn to newborns and never want to put them down -
Ryan panics every time I hold one because he knows that I might just say let’s have another one (LOL)
Today I went to photograph Baby Angelica and as always, I loved it!
It was even more memorable because she is my little cousin (2nd cousin actually but who’s checking)
She is such a beautiful, content little baby….. her name really says it all – she is an absolute angel!

There is something special about photographing a baby in their own home…. while the look and feel is very different to newborn photography done
“in studio”, there is a kind of “connection” with home and family when photographing newborns in their own room or “on location” as we say.
Not to mention the fact that it is much easier for moms….(travelling with a small newborn baby can be quite daunting in the early stages!!)
We have had the pleasure of photographing Baby Angelica in studio and on location

so her mom has the best of both worlds… she is planning to do some beautiful scrapbooking with all the photographs which I am sure Angelica
will treasure one day. We might even do a storybook / photobook of Angelica’s first year! But for now she is only 1 month old…. and we
are not missing any of those delicate moments!!!

I photographed the last Woman@work event last week and it was great fun as usual. I just love attending these events – I get to network and socialise with amazing and dynamic women and learn from inspiring speakers. This month’s event was held at The Boma in Alberton and we watched a show called “Leaving Las Vegas” which was fantastic!

Good music, good dancing, good company….. everythng I love (not to mention the good wine too LOL) But what I really love about these events, is that I get to spend time with my friends.Toni and Tanya, the powerhouses behind Woman@Work, have been friends of mine for almost 20 years now!

And like me, they are wives, mothers and businesswomen so it’s not surprising that we don’t get to see as much of each other as we’d like…. so at least we have one fixed date every month that we get to spend quality time together – no husbands, no families, no children – just a group of incredible women! It’s time that I treasure and I am grateful to my beautiful friends for making it happen.

Woman@Work is a wonderful way to bond with your friends, make new friends, network with other business owners, learn from other people and have fun!Hope to see you there….. Louise

This little boy is a real charmer, he might only be about 5 weeks old but boy can he smile.  He even has the cutest little dimples   He looks exactly like his dad and absolutely adores him.

Every time I spoke to him (even just smiled to him) he would start smiling and performing. Your baby grows and changes so fast.  It’s like you see them every day, but then you come home from work one day and suddenly baby has mastered a new skill or discovered their tongue and you think to yourself:  When did they start doing this”

They learn so fast it’s scary.  So treasure these moments because they go by so fast.  I would recommend having 3 photoshoots in baby’s first year.  A newborn photoshoot in the first week after birth.  Another one at 6 months when they are startgin to roll over, sit up etc and then one
when they are 13 months old.  Basically just before they start walking.  Then from there once a year would be more than adequate.  Baby photoshoots make for special memories.  Yes, everyone takes photos at home but looking at these photos will make you realize that this is something totally different (and it would make a nice gift gor granny for her birthday   )

Finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is like sailing on a ship, somedays there will be good weather and you will think you are the luckiest person in the world and somedays will be stormy.  But in the end you know there will always be a rainbow to look forward to.

So after all the joy and the laughter you have made the decision to get married.  I like to think that the whole “getting ready of the bride” is a big thin.  This is when all the ladies get a chance to have a laugh (and maybe a tear or two) together as they reminisce about when the two of you met.

Doesn’t she look like the happiest woman alive…?  Brides are often on an emotional rollercoaster on the morning of their wedding and you need the perfect photographer to be able to capture all these special moments.  Right after this smile she might have started crying but you wouldn’t guess that as she seems so happy!

10 years after your wedding you might remember how nervous you were, but your wedding photos will have captured every small detail with creative flair, from the peptalk you will get from your sister to your mom helping you put your shoes on

These are the little things which makes us women.  We cry when we are happy and we might scream when we are sad.  To men we seem irrational at times but in your heart you know what I’m talking about.  So choose your wedding photographer carefully, as they will be spending most of this emotional day close by your side.
