As a Johannesburg wedding photographer, I am so exited that spring is in the air. Not only is the weather better but so is the scenery and the amount of day light we have. On a recent wedding the service ran late (the best man forgot the wedding rings can you believe it….) and we actually ran out of day light. Such a pity because I much prefer natural light for wedding photography.
The scenery in spring is just so beautiful, the luscious green grass and the budding trees and flowers just add to the beauty of the bride and groom. When the spring rains come it also cleans the rivers, and running water is always great to photograph.
The wedding venues in Muldersdrift also just sprout to life after the first rains. And the rose gardens set the perfect stage for the bride and groom’s first wedding photos. As you can see I just love spring and all that it brings. New beginnings, fresh starts, and beautiful oppurtunities for photography….
Spring just makes being a wedding photographer more exciting. The brial couple are just so much more comfortable in spring as the bride is not shivering because she is cold. And there is nothinng like a summer highveld sunset…..

One of the things I love most about being a professional photographer is that I get to meet new people all the time. And what wonderful people we have on this earth…. (I guess I am biased as they chose me as their photographer so of course I would like them) but this particular family was really fun to photograph in the studio.
As a professional studio photographer in Johannesburg, I have the responsibility of making the family feel comfortable so that they can relax and have fun. This is often a difficult task, especially with big groups – but not with this group. We had such fun that it really didn’t feel like a professional photo shoot – it was more like a family gathering and someone just grabbed the camera to capture a few family portraits…..(fun candid studio photography or life style studio shots…)
The photographs are fun and funky and so is the dvd we made for them – they loved it and so did we – and some of our photographs have even made their way to Ireland (one of the sisters and her children just came for a family visit…) Apparently, granny was really proud of have photographs taken of her with all her grandchildren – special times indeed….

I love my job – professional studio photographer – lifestyle studio portraits – studio photography – or whatever you want to call it???

I went to my cousin’s wedding on Saturday at a lovely venue called Sun Valley Ranch (in the South of Johannesburg). I was fortunate enough to take some photographs at the wedding but by the time the music started and the champagne started flowing, I was no longer interested in wedding photographs. i was ready to PARTY (and party we did!!!)
I got to connect with old cousins (even met a few new distant cousins) and had a blast with all the girls at the bar. My wonderful aunt decided that all the girls should have a few shooters together, but no-one could decide on which one… my aunt then decided we should start at the top of the list and have every shooter on the list. Of course everyone thought this was a great idea (boy did we regret it the next morning!!! that song: “who’s sorry now??? who, who, who???” comes to mind – but hey, what do you expect from a Currie wedding)
It was such a fantastic wedding – I had such fun and so did my hubby (who after a few drinks takes on the role of photographer and catches all the ‘end-of-night pics’ which should never be photographed) Anyway, that’s what makes up our memories – wonderful moments with friends and family….
Thanks Angela and Darren for a wondeful wedding – Angela: you made the most beautiful bride (both on the outside and the inside) and Darren: where did you learn to dance like that??? Awesome!! May your marriage bring you as much love and joy and laughter as your wedding did!!
And thanks to all my wonderful family – aunts, uncles, cousins, distant cousins, etc – we hardly see each other but I love you all to bits and am grateful to have you in my life!!! Here’s to the next wedding – who’s it gonna be????
wedding photographer johannesburg

Johannesburg wedding photography for a professional wedding photographer like myself is a lot of fun.Joburgers really know how to celebrate in true jozi spirit.
I have been fortunate enough to do many Gauteng weddings from muldersdrift to Alberton to Soweto and one thing I have to say is Johanneburg people know how to party.
There is something about a wedding that gets everyone going, the married couples reminisce about their wedding day and the young couples dream of when their wedding day will come. As far as photography goes every wedding is unique.

Every bride and groom expects different things from their photographer. Some couples want the traditional photos while others want the funky new age wedding photography style. That’s why as a professional international photographer, I prefer to meet the bride and groom-to-be beforehand, so we can get to know each other. A good photographer gets the shots the bridal couple want, not the shots the photographer wants.

The wedding guests also play a role in the outcome of the photographs. What I like about the recent weddings I have done is that the bridal couples have wanted fun candid pictures and the guests have obliged. I have posted a few of the wedding party pictures that rarely get displayed, but which I feel make up a large part of the wedding day and all it’s wonderful memories!!!

I’d never thought of doing pregnancy photos until I came across Louise’s website…..
