bridal-photographyOne of the things I love about photographing weddings is watching the nervous bride transform into an absolutely stunning princess ready to meet her prince in shining armour…. (okay I am a hopeless romantic and needless to say, my hubby isn’t so I need to get my romance from somewhere – maybe that’s why I love weddings so much?!!)

But it’s really quite fun being able to capture the whole process of getting ready – the bride and her bridesmaids as well as the mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the groom versus the groom and his bunchwedding-photographer-johannesburg of friends – you get to be part of incredible moments of emotion and love, as well as unbelievable humour (guess that’s from the nerves or maybe the champagne??) and sometimes overhear a few words of wisdom too…

But it makes it extra special when the beautiful bride that you are photographing is about to become your sister-in-law and you just know that she adores your brother and that he adores her and that they make each other very, very happy! It’s one of those special moments in your life when you just know that there is a bigger plan out there than we can ever comprehend and it fills me with such joy!

bridal-photographyAnyway, photographing my brother’s wedding was great fun (especially since I had too much champagne) and was a real honour (even though I didn’t get to be in any of the photos – boohoo) and I just think that Alexis made the most beautiful bride and I just know that she makes a beautiful wife too…. I think my brother should count his lucky stars……

To JJ and Lex – I love you guys!!! Mwah!!!

If you are a photographer or just have an interest in photography or any form of creative expression, then you have to see the film Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a lens. It is showing at the cinema noveau in Rosebank Mall and is really inspiring.

annie-leibovitzIt is a documentary about Annie’s life and about her photography – which is really one and the same thing.
Her work is amazing and the movie just makes you want to pick up your camera and shoot….

‘Through her work for Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and Vogue, Annie Leibovitz has produced some of the most iconic images of the last 30 years. She’s shot the rich and famous, the profound and powerful, the exceptional and notorious. Her camera has documented the horrors of war – most recently in Sarajevo and Rwanda.

Masterful at exposing her photographic subjects, Annie’s own life has been private and protected. In this film, she made the decision to bare her artistic process, her personal journey and her delicate balancing of fame and family to the camera – a camera that was vigilantly pointed by a filmmaker who is her younger sister. Features interviews with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Tina Brown, Graydon Carter, Rosanne Cash, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Whoopi Goldberg, Mick Jagger, Bette Midler, Demi Moore, Mark Morris, Yoko Ono, Keith Richards, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patti Smith, Gloria Steinem, Jann Wenner, Anna Wintour, and family members. Life through a Lens reveals a woman who has become as iconic as the people she photographs.’ (taken from the product description from amazon.com)

Go see the movie – grab some popcorn and enjoy….

We truly LOVE our photo’s. They are just so GORGEOUS. All of our photographs turned out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. They look amazing. You captured the feelings and the beauty in every photo. We had so many to choose from. Jordan is growing and changing so fast, but they truly capture that special time of when he was a newborn. Now that it's gone forever, I will always look at your pictures...
