What to wear for corporate portrait photography
The products of corporate portrait photography has many uses. It is used in a company’s promotional activities, brochures, literature, annual reports to stockholders and posted on a company’s website. All these uses tend to have an effect on the impression a company makes on someone who has not yet encountered it or maintaining its reputation for the others who have encountered it already.
With your company’s reputation at stake it is only natural for one to want to look his or her best and to exude an aura exuding positivity, competence, trustworthiness, and confidence. A big way in which we can accomplish this is by choosing the appropriate clothes for your corporate portrait photography session.
A corporate photography session is a lot like a job interview. You do want to make a good impression, thus it is only right that we look the part. One way we can do this is to choose the appropriate clothes in advance. Choosing your clothes in advance gives you several advantages:
- You are able to choose the best combination.
- You are able to check whether they need to be pressed, altered or repaired.
- You will be able to find out in advance whether you need to buy a new set of clothes for the photo session.
Make sure you don’t use clothes which are too trendy. Corporate portraits are expected to be recycled and used for years. If one wears something too trendy, it can date the photograph and it can look funny when the trend is no longer in vogue. Instead go for something which is timeless and classy.
For men, choosing the right clothes is often a simple matter— a business suit in solid dark colors such as grey or navy blue are good choices. If one prefers not to wear a blazer, use a white, long sleeved shirt with a tie or a collared golf shirt. Avoid patterns and colors which are too bright or loud.
For women, a classic business suit is also a good place to start. One can also choose to use a simple blouse with a skirt or pants if one wants to look less formal. The caveat against wearing something too trendy and loud patterns also holds for womens corporate portraits. Instead choose solid and conservative colors to maintain a professional and confident aura.
